Look Back tells the story of two manga artists, Fujino and Kyomoto. Fujino is extremely talented, and she knows just how skilled she is. That’s why when she hears her classmates praising another student, Kyomoto, for her art, Fujino is furious and determined to surpass her.

But when the two girls meet, it turns out there’s no need for a feud, Kyomoto is the biggest fan of Fujino. And this is how they team up to create new manga together.

Lead actresses revealed

The anime adaptation is shrouded in mystery as we don’t know many details about the project. There’s been a small teaser and a couple of movie flyers, but that’s where all the information ends. We didn’t even know the names of actresses that are going to voice the main protagonists. Until now.

It’s been revealed that the leading roles in Look Back will be played by Yuumi Kawai (Fujino) and Mizuki Yoshida (Kyomoto). And you might be surprised to learn that these are their first anime voicing roles. They are both Japanese actresses who are known for their live action projects.

You might know Yuumi Kawai for her role in Sayonara, Girls and A Girl Named Ann, and Mizuki Yoshida for portraying Asahi on Netflix's Alice in Borderland.

Even though fans don’t really know how these actresses will deal with their anime roles, they loved them in live action projects and have faith that they’ll be perfect for Fujino and Kyomoto. It’s always wonderful to see (or, well, hear) someone new instead of having the same five people in every show.

Fans can’t wait to finally see the final product and are very hyped about the upcoming movie. They’ve been dreaming about Fujimoto’s one-shots getting anime adaptations for ages, and the Look Back movie is the first step towards it.

They’re also hoping that if Look Back becomes successful, it will increase the chances of Goodbye, Eri getting an anime, too. Because the works of Tatsuki Fujimoto deserve all the attention they can get.
