Mahito Clones in Jujutsu Kaisen, Explained: How Strong Are They?

Mahito Clones in Jujutsu Kaisen, Explained: How Strong Are They?

How do they work exactly?

Summary:

  • Mahito was evolving incredibly fast.
  • At some point, he learned how to create clones of himself.
  • Their physical strength is at the same level, but they can only use Idle Transfiguration on themselves.

Although Mahito was a rather young curse, he managed to become one of the most dangerous out of them. He’s an incredibly fast learner, and each new arc of Jujutsu Kaisen made him stronger and even more terrifying.

Mahito’s clones

During the Shibuya Incident Arc, aka the second season of the anime, Mahito gained a new ability: to create clones of himself. They were indistinguishable from Mahito himself, making it challenging to differentiate between them.

Mahito’s innate technique is Idle Transfiguration that allows him to modify the bodies of himself and his opponents. He reshapes his victims’ souls and does whatever he pleases with them. He can also use this technique to heal himself or create clones.

Are clones as strong as Mahito?

The physical strength of clones is the same as Mahito’s, but there’s one crucial difference: clones are incapable of using the cursed technique on anyone but themselves. They can use Idle Transfiguration to heal themselves or transform their body parts into a weapon, though.

A big part of Mahito’s effectiveness relies on the use of his techniques, so his clones will never be as dangerous as he is, but they’re still to be taken seriously. Nobara was really having a hard time fighting one of the clones, even though Mahito himself praised her for the great damage she managed to do.

Still, the clones are less durable than Mahito, so they are easier to defeat. Using them is a great distraction strategy, but not the one to oppose powerful sorcerers.

Due to the fact that clones cannot use Idle Transfiguration on anyone but themselves, they cannot finish off most of the strong sorcerers. That’s why the clone was luring Nobara back to Mahito’s original body. It understood that dealing with her on its own was out of the question.

Clones’ grade

Mahito is a Special grade curse, but his clones are hardly of the same power level, even though their speed and physical strength are the same. It hasn’t been confirmed in either manga or anime that the clones are not Special grades, but fans think they are closer to Grade 1 or 2 curses.

One of the clones definitely overwhelmed Nobara before she came up with a great strategy, and she was recommended to be a Grade 1 sorcerer. If the clone was just Grade 2, the fight would have been much easier for Nobara.
