Would you like a happy ending?
Summary:
- While the final goal of Undead Unluck is pretty obvious, we don’t know the details.
- Whether Andy dies or not seems like question number one.
- If negators’ abilities cease to exist, it’ll provide a lot of space for a happy ending.
Although the final goal of the series has been pretty obvious for some time, which is reuniting everyone and killing the Gods, which is the primary objective of the Union, we can’t know for sure if this is going to be fulfilled and the characters will actually manage to do so. And what about our beloved Andy and Fuuko? What is going to happen to them? We can’t know these things for sure, of course, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t speculate.
What’s Andy’s fate going to be like?
The main question seems to be Andy’s fate. Straight from the beginning of the story his goal was to die. But he’s a negator and Undead, so his ability is very cruel for someone who doesn’t want to live anymore: the man cannot die. This is why the entire story started. Andy learned about Fuuko’s ability to cause immense misfortune to other people, and he saw it as his opportunity to finally be gone. If the greatest misfortune is triggered, this will be enough to kill him.
So what if the ending finally gives him the chance to die? We don’t want to see a cruel death, of course. But what if all negators’ abilities cease to exist, and Andy will not be Undead anymore. This will allow him to fulfill his dream from the earliest manga chapters and just die.
Andy and Fuuko live happily ever after
However, fans don’t really want to see him go, so they’ve got another idea. Maybe the abilities do disappear, and Andy will be on his way to the desired death, when it turns out that it’s Victor who has to go, and not Andy. Andy might get dragged back to the world of living and get old and have a proper life. With Fuuko, as we hope.
Disappearance of negators’ abilities will also be a happy event for Fuuko, of course. She’s spent her entire life suffering from her powers, as she cannot experience a human touch without bringing misfortune to the person. And without this power she’ll be able to live a normal life and have a chance at proper happiness.
The greater evil should also be defeated if we want a happy ending (and we do want that!), so the Gods have got to go.
There are some predictions for those who don’t enjoy happy endings such as Fuuko dying at the end of the series. This would be especially ironic if Andy survives, and he not only loses his chance at dying, but also someone very dear to him. But for some reason, with this series we’d prefer a happier ending than that.
