Are you ready for some crazy madness?
On October 3, the anime Dandadan was released on Netflix – an adaptation of the manga of the same name by Yukinobu Tatsu. This author is known to fans as the assistant of Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of the popular manga Chainsaw Man.
If you decide to immerse yourself in the world of Dandadan, it will be very difficult to escape. It pulls you in instantly and irrevocably, starting with a grand opening that you won't want to skip.
What Is Dandadan About?
Momo is a high school student dreaming of a big, shiny love, but she has no luck. After another painful breakup, the girl stands up for a nerd from her parallel class: to help the unfortunate man and at the same time relieve stress.
The same nerd decides to make friends with Momo in the only way he understands – through stories about aliens. The nuance is that Momo is sure that aliens are fiction, but ghosts are real. Which completely contradicts the opinion of her new friend.
And now both of them are going to check the reality of the opposite statements: Momo goes to an abandoned hospital where aliens supposedly often visit, and her new acquaintance goes to a cursed tunnel. Who could have known that both would be right?
The Main Feature of Dandadan Is Its Unbridled Madness
In many ways, the show's gimmick is built around its excess, where every concept is pushed to the max and everything is done to sensory overload the viewer. The original manga adhered to a similar principle, but thanks to the mastery of Science Saru, the situation has reached truly unimaginable proportions.
The studio, founded by one of the brightest experimenters in Japanese animation, Masaaki Yuasa, once again shows a master class in how to work with both dynamics and statics. The general chaos is emphasized by numerous details, from jagged (but high-quality) animation to elegant line art that combines expression and detail.
At the same time, the anime is more careful with its pacing than the manga. While the original did not allow the reader to breathe even in quieter moments, the series successfully mixes moods in the first three episodes.
The pilot episode sets a dynamic and crazy bar, the second entertains with less big content, and the third goes into the zone of almost everyday storytelling, albeit with its own unique madness.
Dandadan Is the Best Anime Title of Recent Months
This dynamic action anime features charming, atypical characters, well-thought-out battle scenes, and detailed art.
This fall, many fans of the genre were eagerly awaiting the release of Uzumaki, which was disappointing from the second episode onward. Instead, we recommend paying attention to Dandadan – with its bright colors and crazy action, it will definitely brighten up gloomy days.
