Solo Leveling Premieres: First Impressions Look Promising?

Solo Leveling Premieres: First Impressions Look Promising?

Is it worth waiting for?

Summary:

  • Solo Leveling premiered in several countries before its worldwide release.
  • Those who have already seen the first two episodes are satisfied.
  • Despite the names being changed to Japanese, the story is still set in Korea.

Some countries have already had the chance to watch the first two episodes of Solo Leveling (Ore dake Level Up na Ken) prior to its international release. The anime is scheduled for January 7, 2024, and while we’re getting ready for the premiere, we’ve already got some feedback on the series.

Solo Leveling looks good

The biggest worry was the animation of the series. There has been previous criticism of the art style and its generic look, and when people hear about art style, they think about animation. But it seems that you didn’t need to worry. The animation of Solo Leveling looks incredible and clean, the viewers didn't detect any CGI (although, let’s wait for the worldwide release and see if anyone will be more observant), everything flows together beautifully.

Character design also receives a lot of praise, and those who have read the manhwa mention that characters look exactly like they did in the original source. But animated, duh. They are also paid careful attention to, and the series takes the time to properly introduce them.

The music is another advantage of the Solo Leveling anime adaptation. The main OST seems to be the one from the trailer, so it will hardly surprise anyone, but its’ not everything that the series has to offer, and there will be more soundtracks to make your experience even more epic.

The anime alters things a bit

There are some story additions, as it seems. We don’t want to give away any spoilers, but the anime is trying to set the world up better than the manhwa did, and focuses a lot on worldbuilding. And this news made fans especially happy, as they felt like the original worldbuilding, while still being great, was lacking something.

The first impressions of Solo Leveling are mostly positive, and fans could not be happier. They can’t wait for January to finally experience this journey themselves. They are also curious about the additions that the anime made to the manhwa and excited to see how they will influence the story (in a good way, they hope).

Fans also had another concern, and it’s the issue of nationality. Solo Leveling is originally a Korean web novel, and since the trailers clearly tell us that characters’ names have been changed to Japanese-sounding ones, fans were thinking that the anime will be set in Japan. But turns out, we have nothing to worry about, and everything stays true to the novel (except for the names).
