Streaming on Hulu Doesn’t Do Undead Unluck Justice

The series deserves much better.

Summary:

  • Undead Unluck is not getting enough hype.
  • Fans blame the streaming platform for that.
  • They say Hulu is one of the least popular anime streaming service choices.

Undead Unluck is one of the most promising series this season. Fans have been praising the anime adaptation for weeks, noting its wonderful visuals, hilarious humor, compelling characters and super enjoyable story. The worldbuilding and negator system are also very unique, and it’s difficult to deny that the series has been a very pleasant surprise for many. But still, Undead Unluck seems not to be getting much hype, and other series easily outshine it.

Seeing all the passion that’s been put into this project, the lack of excitement surrounding the series makes us even more upset. But what is the issue? Are other people just not enjoying Undead Unluck the same way?

Hulu is the problem

A number of fans suggest that the streaming platform is the issue. Undead Unluck has been airing on Hulu, which is an American subscription streaming service owned by Disney. When asked about where they watch anime, few people mention Hulu as their first choice, due to Crunchyroll and Netflix being more popular and bigger platforms. Streaming services need to be paid for, and we are all aware of that, of course. So it’s obvious that people would pay their money for something more popular, since more popular equals more content. Moreover, Hulu is only properly available in the USA, so that makes it even more complicated.

Unfortunately, Undead Unluck is not something extremely big. And while Bleach fans might purchase that Hulu subscription to get all nostalgic, a lot of people don’t think one series is enough to make them pay.

They are scared of the woke mob

Fans think that Hulu and Disney could realize the potential that Undead Unluck had and wanted to acquire the rights to stream it as fast as they could. Undead Unluck is a popular shounen series, after all, it’s still ongoing and thousands of people are reading the manga. It was a huge project potentially, and they saw the possibility of great success.

But the thing is that Undead Unluck is not a typical shounen series. It’s weird, bizarre and sexual at times. It has some problematic topics and craziness. So at some point, as fans say, Hulu realized what the final product looked like, and decided that it would be better to hide Undead Unluck, since such a series might cause a lot of controversy among the modern woke mob. This is just a speculation, of course, but it actually makes a lot of sense.
