Tearmoon Empire: Do We Know Now Who Plots the Revolutions?

Episode 10 shows some intelligence agents from Sunkland might be responsible for the unrest in Remno. Was Sunkland the enemy all along?

Tearmoon Empire (Tearmoon Teikoku Monogatari: Dantoudai kara Hajimaru, Hime no Tensei Gyakuten Story) spoilers ahead!

Summary

  • Ep.10 shows the Sunkland spies that have infiltrated the Remno government and caused unrest in the kingdom.
  • Mia’s diary said that Sunkland might invade the Tearmoon Empire, but their attempts to foster revolution in the Remno Kingdom are new.
  • Sion likely does not know about this since he went to Remno with Mia.
  • The mysterious men from Ep. 8 are still unexplained. They are more likely responsible for the attack on Mia’s carriage than Sunkland.

Intelligence Operation

Episode 10 shows that Sunkland’s spies have infiltrated the government of the Remno Kingdom. They appear to foster unrest in the country, and they are pretty high up; one of them even has access to personal letters between Abel and Mia. He is quite certain that they are coded messages from one ruler to another, but in reality, they are simply written by teenagers who miss each other and are probably in love.

The fact that even Abel’s personal letters are in the hands of a foreign spy does not look good for Remno. One of the spies seems to have second thoughts, though, and does not want needless violence. We hope Mia will be able to prevent people of Remno from turning to extremes.

Mia’s diary did not predict any of this, which makes sense since in her past timeline she did not care much for Remno. However, the diary did state that Sunkland would attack the Tearmoon Empire. So, was Sunkland the enemy all along?

Is Sion to Blame?

Sion is the first prince of Sunkland, but we would be very surprised if he were involved in the whole intelligence operation. He is young, after all, and while Mia is very hands-on in ruling her Empire, Sion might be less interested or simply not allowed to do the same. Even though Mia’s diary has always painted Sunkland as a danger, Sion probably does not know about the intelligence operations that his parents apparently put into motion.

That is especially likely because Sion is worried about Abel as much as Mia and even travels with her to Remno, which proves to be a dangerous endeavor. It doesn’t seem that Sion is to blame, but it looks like Sunkland has been trying to destabilize neighboring kingdoms for a while now.

Mysterious Men

One thing the Sunkland theory does not account for is the mysterious men from Episode 8. After all, it is highly unlikely that Sunkland officials would be meeting in some strange tavern to hatch their plans. Besides, someone unleashed an assassin attack on the carriage that carried both Mia and Sion, and the rulers of Sunkland would not want their son to die. The mystery men are much more likely to be responsible for that.

There is more to this mystery, and while Sunkland is clearly a major player in what is happening, someone else is trying to cause revolutions in these countries for some strange but undoubtedly nefarious reasons.
