Vinland Saga Manga: Does It Fall Off After the Anime Events?

Vinland Saga Manga: Does It Fall Off After the Anime Events?

To cut it short: it doesn’t.

Summary:

  • Vinland Saga is one of the highly-acclaimed anime series.
  • The first two seasons were very different.
  • The next parts of the story are even better.

Vinland Saga is one of the biggest ongoing anime series out there. It’s received a lot of praise and accolades, and some fans and even media are calling Season 2 the best anime of 2023.

The series is an anime adaptation of the manga of the same name by Makoto Yukimura. The manga is also still going, but the conversations about it being in its final arc have been around for some time, so the story is coming to an end.

That’s why it’s the best time to discuss how good the manga really is and whether you should even keep experiencing this story. No one wants to read 200-something chapters just to get disappointed, do they?

Season 2 finished at Chapter 100 of the manga, so there’s a pretty big part of the story ahead of you if you haven’t read it. There are 209 manga chapters as of now, and we can expect at least a couple more of them in the future.

The last adapted in the anime arc is called the Slave Arc, but there are two more that are just yet to be animated: the Eastern Expedition Arc and the Vinland Arc. And the best thing is that readers promise that the story gets only better in the next arcs.

The Series Keeps Getting Better

Season 1 and Season 2 of the Vinland Saga anime are different experiences, everyone noticed that. There was more action in Season 1, and Season 2 focuses on character development and deep philosophy.

But the next arc takes the best of the two worlds: there are both exciting battles and outstanding character development. There will be more fights in the next part of the story, new (likable!) characters will be introduced, and there will even be some humor, and not just a depressing viking world.

The Eastern Expedition Arc will also provide a small break from all of the horrors that Thorfinn experienced in the previous arcs. It won’t become a slice-of-life series, of course, but the main protagonist will attempt a calmer life.

The Vinland Arc, however, is considered the pinnacle of Vinland Saga by the fans. It’s still unclear how it’ll end, but if everything goes into the right direction and there aren’t any unpleasant surprises, this arc will be the best part of the entire series.

That’s why you needn’t worry about the future of Vinland Saga, the series gets even better with time. We’re sure MAPPA will do a great job adapting other parts of the manga, but if you can’t wait for Season 3, it’s a wonderful idea to read the source material.

To cut it short: it doesn’t.
