What are the fans upset about?
Chainsaw Man is probably one of the most discussed manga and anime series nowadays. And as it goes with all popular projects, any new episodes and chapters undergo careful scrutiny. The second part of the manga has received some criticism for the changing artstyle in the past, and now fans are back at finding flaws in the series. But what is the reason for these comments?
One of the reasons for that might be the difference between some readers' expectations and the reality. Chainsaw Man fans complain that some people just want to see the series as something like a more mature themed My Hero Academia, and CSM was never like that.
It seems like fans agree that the main reason for such a reaction is waiting, though.
The manga has always been quite popular, and Chainsaw Man anime was highly anticipated back in 2022, but a lot of people got acquainted with the series only after watching the adaptation. The show being a huge success and leaving a lot of questions about what was to come next made thousands of fans want to read the original source.
Now that everyone has caught up with the manga and finished part 1, they have to read Part 2 in an ongoing format, thus waiting week after week for quite short pieces of the story.
Fans also mention that not all of the said pieces are packed with action and meaningful events. For example, they say quiet chapters where Denji just goes through his ordinary life might feel quite unsatisfying to read after you've waited for them for weeks.
Some fans suggest waiting for some time until we have more chapters on our hands and can enjoy a bigger part of the story at once, but not everyone is that patient. Which leads to people feeling like they're forced to read the manga; they want to know how the things end and are incapable of dropping the series even though they're not so invested anymore.
However, some readers strongly advise against giving up on the manga, because the second half of it becomes much better.
They also mention the parallel with the first part of the manga, saying that after about the same number of chapters Part 1 was beginning to feel a bit less entertaining, but it turned out to be the calm before the storm.
No one can deny that Chainsaw Man is a phenomenal experience, and it's had its ups and downs before but as we all know, Fujimoto is a type of mangaka who never fails to surprise his readers, so we believe he's got a lot of tricks up his sleeve, so we just have to wait and see.
