10 Anime Characters We Would Gladly Take a Mortgage With

It's a very responsible thing to do!

You know, Japanese magazines often have polls with weird questions, like, "Which celebrity would you like to make octopus sausages for breakfast?" or "Which anime character would be the best pitcher?", and then they publish the list with the ranking. We decided to do something similar but omit the poll part and just list 10 anime characters that we think would be great to take a mortgage with.

This may feel like a pretty dull and depressing topic, but hear us out: the mortgage is a very serious thing, and the one who shares it with you should be an extremely reliable person, or extremely smart, or extremely cunning and capable of doing everything to deal with it faster. It's not just a bland list of top ten anime husbands or something — no, it's much deeper. So here's our ranking.

1. Nanami Kento (Jujutsu Kaisen)

 - image 1

Not only will he always have a reliable source of income (because Nanamin is the synonym of the word "reliable") but he'll also study the market the hardest looking for the best options, use his connections, and find the least financially burdensome deal that won't damage your pockets too much. He's someone who'd make the perfect paperwork and find the best real estate agent. He may bully them into complete cooperation by being quite intimidating, though, but who says it's a bad thing?

2. Riza Hawkeye (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

 - image 2

Quiet and collected, but ready to just get things done when it needs to be. She's cold-headed and rational — just the mindset you should have when you're making risky financial decisions. But behind that exterior there's a soft and caring heart that will prompt her to find the best conditions and best deals. And the way she works... we mean, you can get rid of your fear of unemployment.

3. Hijikata Toushirou (Gintama)

 - image 3

He's a government official, so he'd definitely have some kind of subsidy that would make the overall payment smaller and the percentage lower. And by being a government official, he has a steady income, and a name that has a certain weight and a tremendous bargaining power. Sure, his work is pretty dangerous and he can die at any moment, but Gintama world lives by Sazae-san laws and Hijikata is one of the main characters, so it's not gonna happen. And if it does, well, the insurance payment will cover a huge part of the overall debt.

4. Hizashi Yamada (My Hero Academia)

 - image 4

Outside of his hero work, he has a lot of connections and his own reliable source of income. He surely knows someone who knows someone who has dined with the sister of someone who is actually married to a really good real estate agent and that agent knows the tips and tricks that they will so gladly share with a local celebrity. Maybe the insurance that comes with him being a hero will be ridiculously high and limit the number of available properties, but it feels like it's worth it.

5. Yukio Kasamatsu (Kuroko's Basketball)

 - image 5

A hard-working boy who will be ready to sacrifice his own well-being if it makes the lives of others easier, he's a perfect person to sign the mortgage deal with. He's extremely determined when he has a goal in mind and he won't stop until he reaches it. This means that he'd probably have a steady flow of money for the regular payments. There is, however, a risk of him burning out, so you should also have a budget for therapy. Or force him to have less straining hobbies.

6. Nico Robin (One Piece)

 - image 6

If we need to take a mortgage to have Robin by our side then we gladly will. And Robin is a successful businesswoman, who knows how to deal with money and how to run things successfully, so you won't have to worry about finances. There may be a problem with her criminal record, though, but it seems like something fixable with proper persuasion. No violence!

7. Erwin Smith (Attack on Titan)

 - image 7

If you're talking about someone reliable, then he's your guy. He's gonna research all the available options and deals and will find something that would satisfy all your needs. He'd also work hard to fulfill your dream — only if it correlates with his dream, of course.

8. Steven A. Starphase (Blood Blockade Battlefront)

 - image 8

This one combines a cunning personality that will allow him to find the best deal through some shady ways with immense reliability. If something needs to be done — it will be done, and you shouldn't bother yourself with the methods that were used to achieve this goal. Please don't.

9. Hirotaka Nifuji (Wotakoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku)

 - image 9

Hirotaka, much like Yukio Kasamatsu, is the one with the most realistic yet hassle-free mortgage-having scenario. He's good at his job, he balances work and life pretty greatly, he knows how to properly budget stuff, and always has enough money for his hobbies. It's the type of "happily ever after" that has a very cozy feeling behind it. Hirotaka is reliable in a way that makes you want to let go of all your worries because it seems like he'd gladly help you deal with them.

10. Arataka Reigen (Mob Psycho 100)

 - image 10

It's a hit-or-miss with him, honestly, but we're ready to gamble because if his con-artist persona and silver tongue work on the bank official, then you may land yourself a pretty sweet deal even if some of the documents seem shady. He's pretty conniving and blessed with extreme luck, which is a dangerous combination. Sadly, that doesn't help him run a very profitable business, but hey. You only need him to talk and sign a paper.
