Everybody loves a villain, be it Marvel, DC or anime. This is our list of top anime villains.
Villains are often a lot of fun, especially if they are made with care. A villain should be interesting and maybe even fun, and we should like them. Let us take a look at what villains might be the best at villainy.
5. Schrödinger from Hellsing Ultimate
We start out light with a minor villain character, an underling of Millenium, a fascist organization from Hellsing Ultimate. The result of Doctor's experiments, Schrödinger possesses the ability of existing and not existing simultaneously everywhere. That ability, however, is only possible while he recognizes himself, which was, in the end, used against Alucard in a very peculiar manner. Without too many spoilers, Schrödinger is an interesting villain in Hellsing Ultimate.
4. Medusa Gorgon from Soul Eater
Medusa Gorgon is a villainess that at first appears to be one of the good guys. She is the nurse at the Death Weapon Meister Academy, but she still plans to release the Kishin and works toward that goal. She is a good scientist but a remarkably bad mother. Without spoiling too much, we will just say that she is a villain who deserves a place on this list.
3. Johan Liebert from Monster
Johan Liebert is technically the monster the anime is about. He is a cruel manipulator who kills without remorse. He is also extraordinarily intelligent, which enables him to be a serial killer. He is smart, dangerous, and absolutely deserves a place on this list.
2. Light from Death Note
Death Note is iconic, and so is its protagonist-turned-villain Light Yagami. He was not a villain to begin with, of course, but it really did not take him long to start murdering people he deemed unworthy of life based on news. It is not like information from the news – or even the justice system – ever contains mistakes. Light is an interesting, very compelling character, and he definitely deserves a place in this list of villains.
1. Spiral from Uzumaki
It might be a little unfair to call a curse a villain, especially since in cosmic horror, which Uzumaki belongs to as a genre, there is rarely any malicious intent. The spiral did not mean to cause chaos in the town of Kurouzu-cho. But it did, and it proved to be one of the most powerful and inescapable of villains. It is also exceptionally memorable, so it makes it into this list.
This is our list of beloved villains from anime. We hope that it reminds you of an anime you need to watch (or rewatch) to get to see these characters in action.
