Denji, is that you?
Summary:
- Bucchigiri?! is a pleasant mix of several cultures.
- Arajin finds himself in a school where only bullies study.
- Bucchigiri?! is made with great attention to detail.
There was little information about the new MAPPA project. Bucchigiri?! even has an original story (not based on the manga), so this title had nothing but the name of a famous studio.
Fans of MAPPA projects were very interested and eagerly awaited the anime. Recently, the first episode was released, which pleasantly surprised viewers and fully met their expectations.
Wild mix
Bucchigiri?! is a great mix of several cultures — Arabic, Chinese and Japanese. There are magical genies, gangsters and authentic Chinese restaurants. At the center of the story is a young boy named Tomoshibi Arajin. He is always very modest and even a little afraid.
By an unfortunate coincidence, he finds himself in a school where only bullies study. It would have been terrible if he hadn't met the love of his life, Jin Mahoro, a girl who charmed him at first sight. The first date, however, ended badly for Arajin — he was beaten up badly by Mahoro's brother.
The plot already looks good enough, but the creators do not stop with the interesting story and add mystical elements. Shortly before the date, Arajin, running away from bandits (yes, he is very unlucky), met a magic genie, Senya, who, as genies are supposed to do, promised to fulfill his wish.
Without thinking long, the protagonist wished to lose his virginity. This trait brings him closer to another hero of the famous anime by MAPPA. Denji from Chainsaw Man also has no big noble dreams, only to eat delicious food and touch women's breasts. However, Arajin is not like Denji, he's more of a typical protagonist — naive and kind.
Expected worries
Like many MAPPA projects, Bucchigiri?! is made with great attention to detail — the anime not only has beautiful animation, but also well-designed characters with memorable looks.
There is so much detail in their appearance that many viewers worry the creators won't be able to maintain this level of quality throughout the anime. Given the studio's recent scandals and overwork issues, this prospect doesn't seem so impossible.
In addition to all the visual elements, we would like to point out the interesting well-written humor. The series is distinct from many other titles produced by the studio — it has a slightly humorous approach.
Compared to Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin), Chainsaw Man, or Jujutsu Kaisen, Bucchigiri?! looks light and unstressful, at least the first episode.
