Attack on Titan Blu-ray Changes: How Different Is It From the TV Version?

Attack on Titan Blu-ray Changes: How Different Is It From the TV Version?

Is it worth rewatching the series for these changes?

Summary:

  • Attack on Titan Final Chapters Blu-ray version is out.
  • There aren’t any major changes.
  • Fans have noticed an interesting detail about Rico.

Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) Final Chapters released its digital copies, and while there aren’t any Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 types of Blu-ray changes, there are still some things to talk about.

The thing with the Attack on Titan finale is that it already looked great. Fans praised the animation and character design of the TV version of the Final Chapters, there weren’t any controversy-causing moments, so the series never needed a significant makeover. However, the digital version does fix some things.

The thing that fans noticed on the first day of the release was an added post-credit scene with Mikasa visiting Eren’s grave. It even managed to generate a couple of theories that we’ve already discussed here.

There doesn’t seem to be anything else new, but the old scenes are fixed. Fans especially loved the way the Paradis destruction scene was done in the Blu-ray version, the moment is more dramatic now, for sure.

Some serious work has been done on shading, colors, and small details that you can notice in various frames with titans, characters, or even food in the series.

However, fans agree that there’s nothing really major going on in the digital copies. That’s why they don’t even see the point in rewatching the series just for some minor changes.

Rico scene

There is, however, an interesting detail that fans have noticed in the Blu-ray version of Attack on Titan. They saw Rico Brzenska in one of the frames, while she wasn’t there in the anime before.

Rico wasn’t just added to the scene randomly. There was always a girl there, but it wasn’t Rico. MAPPA changed her hair color to make her look like herself.

Fans think that it was an honest mistake by MAPPA, and they just didn’t understand that it was Rico in that frame of the manga. They later understood that something was wrong and fixed the mistake.

Overall, the Blu-ray release is incapable of surprising anyone due to how minor most of the changes are. The Final Chapters looked great on TV and were never in dire need of significant changes like other parts of the Final Season were.
