Attack On Titan Ending Remains The Same: Storyboard Revealed

If you thought Attack on Titan anime might change the ending, think again.

Manga finale spoiler alert!

April, 2021, the final manga chapter of Attack on Titan, Toward the Tree on That Hill, is released, and the Internet goes boom! So many expectations, so many speculations, so many worries — it was impossible to make everyone happy. As a consequence, the result divided the fanbase into two opposing camps: one says the finale is peak fiction, and the other one says pretty much the same but with a high level of sarcasm.

The controversy surrounding the Attack on Titan finale primarily stems from the fans’ dissatisfaction with some character development choices. Eren is being called whiny more than usual, Armin surprises fans with out of character behavior, Mikasa goes back to her pining after finally undergoing character development, and Historia seems unimportant even though she previously had so much potential.

The ambiguity of the ending has also resulted in heated discussions. Unanswered questions and open-ended conclusions left some fans frustrated and disappointed. We never fully got the chance to understand the origin of the Ymir curse and how it works exactly. Although we could see that Eren’s powers let him manipulate both past and future events, Isayama didn’t really go deeper into the mechanism of it all. There were also a number of questions about the outside world and the way it worked.

All of the above has led some fans to truly detest the ending and hopefully wait for the anime adaptation to fix it in reply to the controversy. But as it turns out, it might all be in vain.

The storyboard for the Final Season, Part 4 was unofficially revealed and it appears that the anime ending may remain the same and follow the manga. Although some scenes will be removed or changed, the rumor has it that the main idea stays the same.

According to the source, the cabin scene where Mikasa and Eren talk will undergo some changes. There will be more content to extend the view on the life Mikasa and Eren could’ve had and apparently the kiss is going to happen in this scene instead of following the decapitation of the main protagonist.

Probably one of the most controversial scenes in which Eren is crying and saying that he doesn’t want Mikasa to find someone else after his death is also gonna look different. In manga Armin punches Eren before that but, as the rumors say, the anime will remove this in order to make the scene look “less pathetic”.

We will also get some extensions of Eren’s conversations with other Survey Corps members which will add more clarity and sense of conclusion.

The Final Season, Part 4 airs this Fall and very soon we’ll be able to see if all of these changes and improvements are for real. It doesn’t matter if you love the ending or hate it, you shouldn’t miss the finale of such a great franchise which has been around for over a decade.
