Berserk of Gluttony: The Basics
Berserk of Gluttony (Bōshoku no Beruseruku Ore dake Reberu to Iu Gainen wo Toppa suru) has viewers together with the main character Fate learn about his “Gluttony” skill, which turns out to be about souls rather than food. Gluttony, once activated, will keep demanding more and greater quality souls, which it turns into Fate’s stats, just like in a role-playing game, even though it specifically doesn’t increase his level. The issue is obvious: sooner or later, Fate will require only top-tier souls, and if he does not find any, he will go berserk, killing everyone in sight.
Some fans have speculated that Greed, Fate’s sword, was the solution. Greed could absorb the accumulated stats from Fate, which should reset Gluttony. However, it does not seem to be the case since Fate and Greed already had an exchange, and it didn’t stop Gluttony from demanding more and better souls.
As fans note, Fate seems to be bound to become a berserk in the future. He is like a ticking bomb at this point, unless we don’t know something about Gluttony, which is entirely possible. After all, Fate knew nothing about Gluttony until Greed explained to him the basics. Perhaps, there is more to this skill, which makes it more sustainable.
Any Hope?
There is still some hope for Fate. When leaving the Hart estate, Fate met a strange woman, who looked him in the eye and said that he was not ready yet. She had the red eyes of someone with a skill similar to Fate's, and she did not seem mindless with hunger, either. While it is not clear yet, fans speculate that the woman might have a similar or even the same skill and have found a way to live with it without berserking. While it is just speculation at this point, fans do hope that a solution to Fate’s trouble will be found soon.
