In the manga, Reze turns out to be a spy and a hybrid of the Bomb Devil. She was sent to take the heart of the Chainsaw Devil from Denji. Denji fell in love with Reze and the feelings were mutual. The sympathy prevented Reze from completing the mission. Most likely, the same plot twists will be in the anime.

Season 2 Details
The second season is not yet confirmed. The release date for the second chapter will likely be announced after the release of the feature film.
The response to the first season disappointed MAPPA executives. Studio CEO Manabu Ohtsuka said that the adaptation was financially successful.
However, sales in Japan lagged far behind Jujutsu Kaisen, another popular MAPPA anime series. In his opinion, the first season of Chainsaw Man did not have as much of an impact on the anime industry as Jujustu Kaisen.
What Arc Will Season 2 Be Based On?
The second season may be based on several arcs. The first story contained 38 chapters of the original manga. If the second season retains the 12-episode format, we should expect at least an adaptation of the International Assassins arc and the Gun Devil arc. This corresponds to chapters 53 to 79 of the manga.
It is likely that the second season will also include half of the Control Devil arc. It is unlikely that the whole arc will be included – it started in chapter 80 and ended in 97.
