Mr. Villain's Day Off (Kyuujitsu no Warumono-san) is a comedy based on the manga by Morikawa Yuu that will be released this winter. Only one episode is available so far, but we can already say that it will be a pleasant and relaxing experience.
In the first episode of Mr. Villain's Day Off, we were shown a relatively large number of characters, but the most memorable, of course, was the main character. Some have noticed that his appearance is very similar to Ron from Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions (Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri), which was released in the Fall season of 2023.
Villain on vacation
There's something meditative in plots about bad guys trying to live normal lives. Mr. Villain's Day Off is about a general of an evil organization who comes to Earth to destroy it, but is stopped.
The Earth was saved not by a group of heroes, although there is one, but by ordinary pandas who used their cuteness to prevent the catastrophe and discourage any desire for destruction.
The protagonist of Mr. Villain's Day Off — Warumono-san — is a quiet, slightly apathetic hero with occasional fits of rage. He fights the forces of good on weekdays and relaxes and enjoys life on weekends. Warumono-san's personality is nothing special — he's an ordinary hero who fits in well with the concept of the anime.
However, it is his appearance rather than his character that has attracted the attention of viewers. Some have noticed that he looks like Ron Kamonohashi — both characters have curly hair and shaggy hairstyles that cover their eyes.
A lot in common
Even though Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions wasn't a very popular anime of the fall season, Ron was one of the most memorable characters. Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions is a more serious title, simply because the main characters are investigating crimes, but there's also a lot of absurdity and comedy.
At times, Warumono-san not only looks like Ron, but also acts like him — seriousness is quickly replaced by strangeness.
There is no secret behind the similar looks. Different people were responsible for the character designs, and the manga was released at different times, so it's just a funny coincidence.
If you look closely, Red Akatsuki also resembles Isshiki Totomaru, but not in appearance, just in personality. Totomaru is just as kind and naive, and Red's topographical disorientation makes both characters very clumsy.
