The Kingdoms of Ruin

Fans consider The Kingdoms of Ruin to be an edgy anime, and the main character Adonis to be an edgy character. He doesn't care for humans because they caused the death of his mentor, but fans hoped that he would at least have some sympathy for the witches. After all, his mentor, Chloe, was a witch, who was brutally murdered by humans. It turns out, based on episode 5, that Adonis doesn't care much for either faction. All he cares about is revenge, and the witches are just an inconvenience.

Fan Perspectives

Some fans find it amusing that Adonis cares so little about those around him. Instead of Adonis, their disappointment is directed at Doroka, who was revived by Adonis and who kept trying to stop him from fighting during a fight with a human supersoldier. Admittedly, that is quite annoying. After all, she did not follow any of the witches around, trying to make them stop fighting.

Other fans are unhappy that Adonis allowed humans to track him, which he apparently knew before the humans attacked the witch city on the Moon. They believe that destroying the witches’ tree and the witches themselves was uncalled for; after all, it allows humans to truly end the witch race.

On the other hand, some fans agree that after Adonis made it clear that he would not revive Chloe, the witches could have become hostile. In that case, Adonis needed a ticket to Earth, and humans were his best bet.

Regarding the fighting scenes, fans are mostly satisfied. Some of them note that the science used by humans looks a little magical, especially as it causes tornadoes or huge beams of power. Fans also admit that the animators managed to convince us yet again that Doroka is dead, before revealing that her body was copied, just like Adonis was back on Earth.

Finally, no fan believes that Adonis was killed by the humans; they are certain that it is Adonis who reports the success of the mission to humans on Earth. The anime had made us wonder if Adonis was dead before, but we are no longer falling for that old trick.
