It is tough being a firefighter when you are a girl, which is something Yuki from Firefighter Daigo knows very well.

Despite being one of the best when undergoing training, Yuki is still busy with office work for the firefighting department, which is important but not what she had always wanted. Daigo and Shun get their orange uniforms and become rescuers sooner than she does, and it is clearly breaking her heart, especially since she is the one who really wanted to be a firefighter.
Flashback
In one of Firefighter Daigo’s flashbacks, fans can see that Shun has feelings for Yuki while studying in the same school. He learned that she liked firefighters, and that is why he decided to become one. Yuki, however, has always wanted to become a firefighter herself. It might not be the most realistic wish, and still, fans cannot help but root for this girl. Shun, on the other hand, appears to have adjusted to the training well, and he does seem to want to help people, which is why his choice of career does not seem to be a mistake, despite its less than rational beginning.
Glass Ceiling?
Firefighting is a physically demanding job, which is why women are not usually expected to perform it. Despite that, female firefighters exist, even though their numbers are usually below 10%. Still, as long as a woman has the desire and ability to be a firefighter, it seems strange to hold her back.
For example, Yuki trained alongside Shun and Daigo, and she proved to have the strength and intelligence needed to be a firefighter. Firefighter Daigo is ongoing, but two characters of the trio have already become rescuers, while Yuki has not. Yuki’s situation can be argued to be a glass ceiling one, and the fans feel really bad for the girl who completed the special team training just like everyone else.
Fans hope that Yuki manages to break through this glass ceiling; it would be extremely unfair if she did not.
