Turns out the studio change wasn’t that bad.
Summary:
- Previously released key visual for KonoSuba sequel had fans worried it would look worse than the previous entries.
- The latest released trailer looks amazing and makes fans confident about the animation in S3.
- The anime already had a pre-screening in Japan.
KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!) getting a third season made fans very happy. While they already had a movie and a spin-off, this wasn’t nearly enough.
Fans had concerns about the studio
While the anime is returning with another season, fans definitely had their concerns about it. KonoSuba has changed studios multiple times, from Deen to J.C.Staff and now to Drive.
Studio changes have never been received well, with concerns about animation quality and art style arising nearly every time — just look at the situation with One Punch Man.
There have also been concerns about the previously released key visual. While key visuals with weird art definitely aren’t anything new for the KonoSuba fandom, a little-known studio making the anime is definitely a reason to be concerned.
The PV looks very good
Thankfully, a newly released PV for the anime made fans very happy. It seems that the art style isn’t actually changing that much, and the animation shown in the trailer is on par with that of the first two seasons — if not better.
The animation has always been somewhat a controversial topic among the KonoSuba fandom. While by itself, the animation is undoubtedly great, the wacky distorted faces, especially in S2, got some criticism from the fans. These, however, aren’t going away with S3 — and they shouldn’t. They give the anime its own style, after all.
The anime is coming out very soon
There are just a few weeks left until the anime starts airing. It premieres on April 10, and the animation in the PV looking solid is a good sign for the series.
What fans probably don’t know, however, is that the first two episodes already got a pre-screening in Japan over the weekend. We currently don’t have any reviews of them, but that fact probably means the first episodes are already polished and ready.
One last thing that still worries fans is how long the third season is going to be. The first two were just a bit too short — only 10 episodes long each — which is another reason why fans felt it wasn’t enough.
The spin-off, however, had a more standard episode count of 12 — and fans feel like that will also be the case for S3. There is no official announcement for now, so that still remains a mystery
