Anime about first love, where the characters try to find happiness.
There are probably no life situations or plotlines that aren't reflected in anime. First love is a common theme, so there are countless examples of it. Still, some titles resonate more than others.
1. Blue Spring Ride, 2014
The boys at school always liked Futaba, but because of this, the girls started to avoid her. The pressure became so intense that she couldn't even confess her feelings to the guy she liked.
In high school, she decided to change her image. Then, Tanaka – the guy she liked – came back into her life. Would they be able to make up for lost time?
This is a sweet and sincere story about first love, school difficulties, relationships with classmates, and overcoming shyness to be yourself.
2. To the Forest of Firefly Lights, 2011
The young Hotaru gets lost in a magical forest full of ghosts. A spirit named Gin helps her escape. Gin can't touch people or he'll disappear.
Hotaru can't forget the mysterious boy, so she returns to the forest to get to know him better.
3. My Love Story!!, 2015
Takeo Goda is a high school student who looks more like someone's father than a student. Despite his appearance, he is the same as everyone else inside.
Ironically, he is friends with the school's most handsome guy. Of course, it is difficult for him to compete and find a girlfriend. But that was before he saved Rinko.
Seeing the best in yourself and overcoming your complexes are probably two of the reasons why you should watch this anime at least once.
4. My Dress-Up Darling, 2022
Gojo Wakana is lonely, but he has a big dream: to become a master of Japanese dolls. One day, Marin Kitagawa, the school's beauty who secretly enjoys cosplay, finds out about his hobby.
She asks him to help her create cosplay outfits, and in the process, they grow closer and find themselves wanting to spend more time together.
5. Horimiya, 2021
Everyone at school knows that Kyouko Hori is very responsible, but they have no idea that she literally supports her entire household.
By chance, she starts talking to Izumi Miyamura. At school, he seems very decent, but outside of school, he is covered in tattoos and piercings. He is a sweetheart inside and out, which is exactly why they will start a romance.
This light and cheerful title shows that stereotypes about appearance have nothing to do with character.
