'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime' Receives New PV, and Fans Love It

Seems that we are getting a lot of action in the first arcs of Season 3.

Summary:

  • That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime released a new PV, confirming the two-cour runtime.
  • The PV shows a lot of action, which makes fans happy.
  • The anime might overtake the manga, but it adapts the LNs anyway.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken) is probably one of the most successful isekai anime right now. With two seasons (the second one split in two parts), two OVA side stories, a movie and a spin-off anime, it’s still getting more and more content.

In Spring 2024, the third season of the anime is going to air. This excites fans, but what excites them even more is the fact that the previously announced length of two consecutive cours is now confirmed. Fans weren’t very satisfied with S2 being split into two parts.

It will be two cours long

The new PV revealed the air date for the anime as well. It’s going to air on April 5th — pretty early into the season — which makes fans speculate about the length of the series. That said, we barely get 26 episode anime these days — 25 or 24 episodes are more likely.

Of course, a format of two consecutive cours raises questions about the studio keeping up the animation quality. Fortunately, the PV looks good — and 8bit is a decently large studio that isn’t known for production meltdowns.

Expectations for the season

Fans are also happy to see many characters come back. Seems like Hinata is going to fight Rimuru yet again — at least, the fight was teased in the PV. In general, the trailer showed a lot of action, which is something that fans really wanted.

Light novel fans were concerned that some of the next volumes adapted are going to be very slow-paced and uneventful. At least from what we can currently see in the trailer, that’s not the case: the next arc is going to be one of the most action-oriented in the anime yet.

Some fans are disappointed the trailer doesn’t have Diablo, though. That said, he will actually appear in the next season, and play a major role in it. At least, that’s what the light novel readers are saying.

Will the anime have original content?

Many fans are concerned about the trailer, however, worrying that the anime will overtake the manga and add fillers because of that. That, however, won’t mean anything — the anime won’t run out of content to adapt.

The reason for that is that it is adapted from a series of light novels, not from the manga — which is secondary to the LNs. In fact, the anime had already overtaken the manga in the past, before falling behind it again.
