Have you ever wanted to visit another time? Or have you ever dreamed of changing your own past? Fantasies about time travel have long fascinated people.
Many books have been written, hundreds of movies and TV series have been made, and of course many interesting anime have been created about time travel.
1. Steins;Gate, 2011-2015
The student Okabe Rintaro, his childhood friend Mayuri and the hacker Daru accidentally invent a time machine in their small laboratory: with a telephone connected to a microwave, it becomes possible to send messages into the past.
One such letter saves the life of a young scientist, Kurisu. Together with her, the company conducts one experiment after another, gradually changing the present by interfering with the past.
But not all changes are for the better: in the new timelines, Mayuri is doomed to die. Okabe desperately searches for a way to create a future where both girls can live.
2. Sakurada Reset, 2017
In the quiet Japanese town of Sakurada, everyone has a paranormal ability. And the powers of the main characters combine perfectly.
Misora can rewind events in the town for a period of no more than three days, but she loses her memory of what should have happened in the future. Kei, on the other hand, has a photographic memory that allows him to remember every possible development down to the smallest detail.
By replaying different situations, the two help the people around them solve their problems, but in the process they encounter the town government and its dark secrets.
3. Erased, 2016
Artist Satoru has an unusual ability: when disaster strikes before his eyes, he can briefly rewind time and prevent the catastrophe.
But when Satoru's mother is murdered and he becomes the prime suspect, mysterious forces transfer his consciousness back to 1988, when several children in his hometown and the surrounding area disappeared.
Realizing that the kidnappings are connected to his mother's death, Satoru decides to save the children at all costs. Not an easy task for a schoolboy, even armed with knowledge of the future.
4. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, 2006
After nearly dying under the wheels of a train, high school student Makoto suddenly discovers that she has the ability to travel back in time. She spends her energy on trivial things like passing school tests and avoiding awkward declarations of love.
But the butterfly effect takes hold, and Makoto's decisions put her friends in dangerous situations. Realizing the responsibility of her actions, the girl decides to fix everything and help everyone, but the number of her time jumps is limited.
5. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, 2006-2009
High school student Haruhi Suzumiya is not interested in mere mortals – only aliens, visitors from the future, and people with superpowers. Hoping to meet the supernatural creatures, she and Kyon organize their own school club.
But what Haruhi does not understand is that its members are exactly those she dreams of meeting. And they have been sent here to keep an eye on the girl so she can't destroy the world, create another one, or pull off some other trick. After all, without knowing it, she has enormous, almost divine powers.
