The Zom 100 Final (Despite the Problems) Was Very Good, but What's Next?

BUG FILMS is back with a good end.

Summary:

  • Zom 100 had everything to become a hyped show, but BUG FILMS was not able to finish the series on time.
  • The last three episodes turned out to be impressive.
  • Only 6 manga volumes have been adapted into an anime.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead was a promising summer release. It had everything to become a hype show — interesting plot, non-banal visuals, memorable characters. However, due to the high bar, BUG FILMS was not able to finish the series in time.

The last three episodes were released on December 25. Despite all the difficulties, the ending was good and fans are looking forward to the second season.

High quality till the end

Zom 100 was surprising right from the start. At the center of the story is Akira Tendou, a workaholic. The creators cleverly reflected one of Japan's biggest problems — overwork. Akira worked day and night and would have continued to do so if the zombie apocalypse hadn't started.

How would a normal person react? Scared, of course. But that's not our hero. Akira finally had some free time, so he made a wish list and went on a journey across the country to fulfill it. Along the way, he was joined by other guys who shared his desires.

Episode 9 ended with Akira and his friends arriving at the protagonist's home village. BUG FILMS decided that they needed more time for an impressive finale, so the production of new episodes was stopped.

The last three episodes turned out to be impressive not only for the story, but also for the animation. Of course, they don't differ much from the rest of the episodes, but that's good because the quality has been on a high level throughout the series.

Will there be a second season?

There has been no official announcement of a second season. This is not surprising, as the studio has just sorted out the problems connected with the first season's production. BUG FILMS will probably learn from their mistakes and work on release strategies. This may be the reason for the later return of the sequel.

However, there is no good reason not to continue Zom 100. It is popular enough and has good ratings and views despite all the difficulties.

At the end of the first season, the heroes set new goals and prepare for the journey. This means that more crazy adventures and unusual acquaintances are waiting for them. Although there are no open questions after the first season, the finale does not look complete.

Besides, only 6 manga volumes have been adapted into an anime, so there is no shortage of material. Let's hope to hear news about the Zom 100 sequel soon.
