What Is Fire Force About?
Two centuries ago, a large-scale fire, the Great Cataclysm, fell on Earth. Civilization was saved by a man who found an untainted flame. With its help, people created Amaterasu, a thermal power plant on which the Tokyo Empire is based.
However, a new problem has emerged: spontaneous combustion transforms random individuals into infernals, or fire monsters.
The main character is Shinra Kusakabe, a rookie in the Special Fire Force Company 8 who can generate fire from his legs. Kusakabe lost his family in childhood.
His mother and brother burned to death in a fire, and society blamed him for it. During his first days of service, Shinra is approached by a mysterious man who gives him a clue about the circumstances surrounding a fire that occurred twelve years ago.
Fire Force Is Not Your Typical Shonen Title
At first glance, Fire Force is a typical shonen anime. The protagonist dreams of becoming a hero and is on a team of outsiders who fight an incredible threat. However, the series becomes much more interesting when you delve into the context.
Each of the eight special forces occupies its own niche in the state system and is unique. The First brigade is subordinate to the local church; the Second, to the Tokyo army; and the Eighth, although assigned to the church, is, in reality, a team of rebels who remain unbiased.
Fire Force Will Hook You With Its Gripping Detective Mystery
A cleverly twisted detective plot plays an important role in the series. The Tokyo Empire system is based on the power of three organizations: the church, the monopoly corporation, and the army – that is, faith, money, and force.
If even one of these pillars is broken, chaos will ensue, and each agency definitely has something to hide. The characters gradually pull on many strings, and with each arc, they get closer to a mystery rooted in the distant past.
Spontaneous combustion, the Great Cataclysm, Amaterasu, and fire abilities – what if all these things are connected? Following the investigation is extremely exciting.
Season 3 Is Even Better Than the Previous Two
So far, half of the episodes from the third season have been released. The five-year hiatus has clearly benefited the series – the animation quality has improved significantly.
