You wouldn’t be able to look at the anime the same way after learning this one.
Summary:
Chained Soldier is a very popular ecchi anime this season, yet nobody is talking about its great cast of voice actors.
Most of the cast has already appeared together in the SSSS.Gridman franchise.
Yuuya Hirose has been playing harem leads for a while, and he already worked with some of the other seiyuu of the series.
Chained Soldier (Mato Seihei no Slave) has been somewhat controversial this season. Surprisingly enough, that’s not because of the amount of fanservice in it.
In fact, that is why people actually like it — after all, it promises fanservice, and delivers a lot of it (just not in the first episode). No, the anime is controversial because of the animation sometimes being very subpar — although the ecchi moments are still well done.
What many people are not talking about, though, is the voice actors of the series. They have been doing a splendid job and making the characters feel much more alive.
Some of the more experienced fans have noticed how similar the seiyuu cast of Chained Soldier feels to that of other series — which, to some, makes the anime somewhat funny.
The cast has appeared together in the Gridman franchise
The seiyuu for the male lead is Yuuya Hirose, who is mostly known for playing Yuuta from SSSS.Gridman.
He is not the only person that happens to be in the cast of both, though. Yume Miyamoto, who provided the voice for Rikka, the main heroine of Gridman, is in Chained Soldier as Himari, which makes the anime somewhat awkward to watch — albeit in a good way.
There is more overlap between the two series as well. Akari Kitou, who voices Kyouka in Chained Soldier and sings the opening, has also played Hass in Gridman. Reina Ueda — Akane from Gridman — is playing Sahara in Chained Soldier, and while she isn’t a main character here, it’s still interesting.
Maaya Uchida voices Tenka: she has provided multiple songs for Gridman and Dynazenon, as well as the ED for Chained Soldier — and she even appeared in Gridman Universe as Hime.
More interesting connections
As if this wasn’t enough, fans have pointed out that the Yuuya Hirose & Maaya Uchida duo has already appeared in anime before. They voiced the main characters in Vermeil in Gold, another recent fanservice-heavy anime.
It seems that Hirose has been typecast into the male harem lead role for a while now. One of his first performances like that was Takuma of Val x Love.
Curiously enough, Rina Hidaka, who voices Mutsumi in that series, also appears in Chained Soldier as Naon. All these connections add an extra level of entertainment to the anime, which is already fun as is.
