Unlikely Duos: Twitter Pits Characters From Different Anime Against Each Other Just for Funsies and We're Down for It

Like ‘Actors On Actors’, but with anime characters!

We're all for weird crossovers — that's the least fun we can have with fictional characters. So now Twitter is thinking about which two characters they would want to lock in a room together. Of course, there are many ways their interactions can go, but we decided to pick ten pairs that may engage in something meaningful or hilarious and not just go straight into R18 territory or a fight for no reason.

Yuji Itadori (Jujutsu Kaisen) and Denji (Chainsaw Man)

 - image 1

Two protagonists of the most popular shounen titles in the past years. Two broken boys who had to deal with harsh realities. One of them, however, had a loving family, friends, and superiors. The other can't catch a break, his moments of bliss being short-lived, his best things in life taken away from him again and again. Despite all that, they will probably start arguing about their preferences in movies and girls, get into a little fight, make a mess out of the room by spilling all the snacks on the floor, and become brothers in under 20 minutes.

Younger Eren Yeager and older Eren Yeager (Attack on Titan)

 - image 2

We can think of two scenarios. In a wholesome one, they'll just talk about Mikasa non-stop, sharing some moments. In a more realistic one, the younger Eren will try to kill the older one, as he's much more hot-headed and unable to just sit and listen, so older Eren will probably have to tie him up to calm him down. Older Eren will also probably be quite manipulative yet somber. We had a glimpse of that in canon, but it was a bit different than the premise that we're thinking about.

Nanami Kento and Hiromi Higuruma (Jujutsu Kaisen)

 - image 3

Some think that Higuruma was introduced to the story as Nanami's replacement, being the one who represents the category of Responsible Adults. And something tells us that should they meet, they would instantly bond over protecting kids from the horrors of the sorcerer's life. Leave adult things to adults, as Nanamin once said — and he was right. And Higuruma will definitely support him in that. Their duty as fighters would also be unstoppable. Yes, Gege, we are still bitter.

Victor Nikiforov (Yuri!! On Ice) and Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)

 - image 4

Two insufferably flamboyant stars who are believed to be the best in their respective fields — it's a recipe for a disaster. They will probably get into a very heated argument about something minuscule, like thinning hair, but they may bond over teaching and love. Although only one of them would be able to talk about romance with a smile on his face.

Inosuke (Demon Slayer) and Bakugou Katsuki (My Hero Academia)

 - image 5

It's gonna be loud, that's for sure. And it would probably end in a fight. Still, it will be entertaining. We'll be placing bets for who's gonna get out of here in better shape.

Kei Tsukishima (Haikyuu!!) and Shintaro Midorima (Kuroko's Basketball)

 - image 6

These two could actually have a very meaningful and intellectual conversation until Tsukishima discovers Midorima's horoscope obsession. Then Midorima would be roasted to oblivion. Cue in a part of the conversation that consists only of meaningful fixing of glasses.

Arataka Reigen (Mob Psycho 100) and Bocchi (Bocchi! The Rock)

 - image 7

One of the rare instances when one character can actually fix the other — and maybe not even notice that. Reigen is a great mentor, despite being a con artist. He has a good heart which is overfilled with confidence, but this confidence is contagious. Mob has grown so much under his mentorship, he started believing in himself more, started allowing himself to be himself, and this is exactly what Bocchi needs. Probably Reigen would be able to help her with anxiety just by talking non-stop. He's good with kids, after all.

Vash The Stampede (Trigun Stampede) and Izaya Orihara (Durarara!!)

 - image 8

Imagine these two sharing their thoughts on humanity. This is going to be one of the most insightful and meaningful conversations, exploring the perspectives of a hardcore pacifist and bored borderline terrorist. Izaya will try to be manipulative, as he always is, but Vash, despite looking naive and innocent, is not that easy to crack.

Tohru Honda (Fruits Basket) and Osamu Dazai (Bungo Stray Dogs)

 - image 9

Another instance of "she could fix him". Then again, Tohru is the resident therapist of the anime community with unlimited healing powers. That's the whole plot of Fruits Basket, after all: Tohru helps others become less unhinged, understand their worth and turn their lives around. And something tells us that she'll be able to do that to any character in any franchise. Dazai just fits it well. Probably he will even leave the room sobbing.

Anya Forger (Spy X Family) and Mob (Mob Psycho 100)

 - image 10

This room would be the most wholesome one. Anya, despite being quite mischievous, is a cute little girl, and she shares some of the struggles that Mob has. She understands him, and Mob himself is a ridiculously nice boy. Sure, he'd probably be pretty shy around Anya at first, but something tells us soon they'll be drawing pictures together and playing with telekinesis.
