Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken) is an interesting case of power scaling. On the one hand, Stand abilities could be as ridiculous and as powerful as Araki wants them to be — some of them could easily beat Saitama (One-Punch Man)!. On the other hand, most Stand users are humans, and generally have the same weaknesses as you or me.
Still, discussions about power levels could be fun — so how about we rank every Jojo (so far in the anime) from weakest to strongest?
6. Jonathan Joestar
The original Jojo is practically superhuman in a physical sense, and is a genius at sunlight breathing karate (Hamon) as well. Even before he was taught Hamon by baron Zeppeli, his kick could easily shatter bones, and he could power through an entire rugby team hanging off him like ornaments on a Christmas tree — and this series’ original magic system made him even stronger, more resilient, and capable of dealing with Castelvania-esque threats of Part 1.
Still, his physicality could only take him so far.
5. Joseph Joestar
Just like his granddad, Joseph is a Hamon genius. Unlike his granddad, Joseph received top-notch training that allowed him to tangle with Pillar Men — a race of super vampires that eat vampires like Dio from Part 1 for breakfast. Additionally, Joseph is a genius tactician and an expert on outconning his opponents, even capable of outsmarting their outsmarting.
In Part 3, Joseph also received a Stand that creates thorny vines and assists in divination — Hermit Purple. Though it doesn't change his ranking here.
4. Jolyne Cujoh
As the granddaughter of Joseph, Jolyne inherited his battle smarts (and her father’s fighting spirit). Her Stand Stone Free is a simple deal — it allows Jolyne to transform her body into a string, and condense said string into a more traditional punching Stand. It’s a very simple and straightforward ability that Jolyne used to its fullest potential throughout Part 6.
If all Jojos had the same Stands, either Jolyne or Joseph would’ve been the strongest. But the other three have hax.
3. Josuke Higashikata
Josuke is a classic delinquent punk with a heart of gold — hotheaded and foolhardy, yet also kindhearted and easygoing. His Stand Crazy Diamond represents this dichotomy — on the one hand, it’s a powerful short-ranged punching Stand capable of matching some of the strongest opponents out there. On the other hand, it has an ability to reverse time for a touched object, fixing broken items and healing wounds — the only thing it can’t possibly reverse is death itself.
And yes, Crazy Diamond is VERY powerful, able to physically match next Jojo’s Stand.
2. Jotaro Kujo
In a fight, Jolyne’s dad is surprisingly levelheaded and resourceful, yet stoic and brutal. Through most of Part 3, his Star Platinum was believed to be a simple punching Stand — meaning Jotaro won most of his fights through his wits alone. Still, during his climactic fight with DIO, he unlocked Star Platinum: The World — the ability to stop time itself.
We repeat, this is a Stand that can punch through you. And it can stop time on top of that. Wow.
1. Giorno Giovanna
At its baseline, Giorno’s Gold Experience would’ve been 3rd, or maybe 2nd on this list. After all, it’s a punching stand with an ability to create life — including transforming inanimate objects into animals, and replacing damaged organs with new tissue. But at the end of Part 5, it acquired an absolute cheat of an ability in Gold Experience Requiem (GER).
GER allows the user to be unaffected by anything, and reset anything to zero — making Giorno essentially invulnerable, and capable of almost magically trapping people (like Diavolo) in an infinite death loop.
Honorable mention: Mojo Jojo
Mojo Jojo (The Powerpuff Girls) might not be a Joestar, but he’s still Jojo. And given the sheer power level of the PPG universe and the cartoon physics involved, we reckon he could be counted above Josuke, but below Giorno. So either 2nd or 3rd place.
Some spoilers for the anime. No manga spoilers.
