A fan favorite character is back!
Summary:
- The new trailer for Mushoku Tensei confirms that the anime is still as well-made as the previous seasons.
- Ruijerd is back, and the anime seems to focus on action more than in the previous cour.
- Some fans are upset about the PV spoiling too much.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu) posted a new key visual and trailer for the second cour of Season 2. The trailer excited the fans — so let’s take a look at what to actually expect from the continuation.
Production is still top-notch
The anime for Mushoku Tensei has so far been a blessing for the light novel fans. The studio is intent on adapting the whole thing — which is huge in scope. Moreover, the visual quality of the anime is exceptional, far above that of an average isekai series nowadays.
While most fans feel like the animation peaked in Season 1, that doesn’t mean it becomes bad after that: it’s still impressive, and the new PV seems to continue the trend.
The anime seems to have changed directors once again. Both parts of the first season were directed by Manabu Okamoto, who was later replaced by Hiroki Hirano in the first part of S2. Now, it’s going to be Ryousuke Shibuya, who doesn’t have a huge portfolio.
However, he has already worked on Mushoku Tensei, so fans aren’t too concerned about this change. Besides, when almost every arc is different in tone, director changes are arguably not even a bad thing.
Contents of the PV
One thing that the fandom was generally excited about was seeing Ruijerd once again. The veteran warrior is one of the most beloved characters in the series, and his reappearance makes the viewers very happy.
The PV seems to have a lot going on. The first cour of S2, while not terrible, was largely different from what people expected. It focused on slice-of-life moments and character interactions.
Of course, those are welcome, but by the end of it, fans have been eagerly anticipating more action and adventure — after all, the main selling point of many fantasy anime is exactly that. Thankfully, we are getting action back which makes the viewers even more hyped.
Not all fans are happy
One thing in particular that the fans are divided on, however, is the nature of the trailer. If you think about it, a lot of moments that were shown and teased in it are spoilers.
Even Ruijerd returning is a spoiler in itself — this reveal would be far better to experience blind. That said, this is also the point of PVs — they tease the key moments about the series, and as such, some spoilers are unavoidable.
