Should they just give it more time?
Summary:
- Metallic Rouge is an original anime series, so there’s no original source to consult.
- The first episodes keep introducing new characters and conflicts.
- The story is confusing to many fans.
Metallic Rouge is an original anime series by Bones. When it comes to original series, it’s always harder to attract fans’ attention because they know nothing about it, and there aren’t any manga readers to tell them whether the series is worth their time. Moreover, there is no original source to refer to when there’s confusion.
Intricate world and not enough explanation
Metallic Rouge does create confusion. It seems to have a very peculiar world with a lot of organizations, rules and terms. The anime doesn’t try to throw everything at you at once, and doesn’t rush the worldbuilding and explanations, which is a good thing. But we can also see how it can be confusing.
While it’s especially engaging for some fans to try to connect the dots and understand how every little thing in Metallic Rouge works, there are some who feel lost and have no idea of what is going on in the series.
And the latest episode, the third, doesn’t help at all. Moreover, it introduces more characters and conflicts into the picture, making the entire thing even more confusing.
How do Neans really work?
It’s still unclear how androids work in the series. We know that Neans are limited by Asimov laws of robotics, two of which state that “a robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm” and “a robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.”
Still, we’re told that there are Neans that do not obey these rules and can act out of their own will. And Rouge is an android like that.
Some fans thought that only the Immortal Nine were the ones not bound by the Asimov laws, which led them to believe that Rouge was also one of them. But that made little sense, since Rouge and Naomi are the ones on a mission to hunt them down.
On top of that, fans admit they don’t feel any character attachment and investment for now. Rouge and Naomi were meant to make the series extra enjoyable, and their dynamic looked promising, but Episode 3 made them fight already.
Still, it has only been three episodes, and we understand that the series is going somewhere, and all possible explanations are on their way. Fans just want to have at least some of their questions answered before Metallic Rouge introduces new ones.
