Here’s hoping.
Summary:
- Vinland Saga Season 2 finished airing earlier this year.
- There hasn’t been a Season 3 announcement.
- Fans believe that it’s coming, though.
- Manga readers promise that Season 3 will be more action-focused than the previous one.
This year has been very good for Vinland Saga and its fandom. Season 2 aired and became one of the most successful anime this year. Moreover, it won IGN’s best anime 2023. But doesn’t this success mean that we’re meant to see Season 3 one day?
Season 3 hasn't been confirmed
The answer is very unsatisfying, and it’s “we don’t know.” There haven’t been any announcements about the sequel, and to be honest, we kind of understand why. MAPPA has been working hard this year, and the entire Jujutsu Kaisen controversy affected them a lot, so they are probably focusing on other projects at the moment.
But the success of Vinland Saga is undeniable, so the chances of getting the third season are extremely high. It’s not just an anime that no one talks about and everyone will forget in a month or so, it’s one of the biggest series out there now, so we’d even be brave enough to say that Season 3 is 100% (okay, maybe 98%) happening in the future.
Fans’ expectations about Season 3
The first thing fans really want to know about Season 3 is whether it will keep the Season 2 vibe or come back to Season 1 and be more action-focused. Everyone and their mother has already discussed the tone-change of the second season and how it’s slower, more philosophical and focused on character development.
Manga readers say that it’s going to be both. Season 3 (if it ever happens) will take the best from the first two seasons and give you not only fascinating character development, but also stunning action. There will definitely be more fights and all those shounen moments you love so dearly, so don’t worry if Season 2 didn’t feel like your cup of tea, the next one will fix that.
On top of that, manga readers say that the Vinland Saga manga is in its final arc and will be finished in less than a year, so we’ll soon find out how much content there will be to adapt into anime.
For now fans think that Season 3 will not be enough to reach the finale of the story. But Season 4 might do the trick and become the final one.
