We still hope these series will be animated one day.
Although shoujo series are often considered shallow or stupid, we still think that this genre deserves the world. And here are a couple of great manga that prove that shoujo series can be great.
- Kitchen Princess (Kitchen no Ohimesama)
The title of the manga alone is enough to understand that there will be some cooking going on. And you’re not wrong.
Najika’s true passion is food, and it doesn’t matter if she has to eat it or cook it, everything works for her. Najika’s dream is to join a special academy in Tokyo where she can learn to become a pastry chef.
But this is not the only reason she’s on her way to the academy. There’s also a mysterious boy she calls the Flan Prince, and a spoon he’s left behind has the emblem of the same academy.
- Queen's Quality
Why not add something supernatural, too?
Fumi is an apprentice Sweeper, someone who helps to “clean” people’s hearts of negative emotions. The girl isn’t used to being treated with love and respect, and many view her as a curse.
But one of Fumi’s fellow Sweepers changed that and gave the girl a place where she belonged. The only issue is that there’s a great power inside Fumi, and it’s up to her whether she’ll use it for good or evil.
- Dengeki Daisy
After the death of her brother, Teru is left alone. She has something to remind her of her sibling, though ― a phone.
Teru uses this phone to communicate with Daisy, a person she’s never met but someone who can always support her and cheer her up.
Unlike Daisy, the rude school janitor Tasuku Kurosaki gives Teru no breaks and tries his best to make the girl miserable. However, her impression of him is about to change.
- Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden
Takiko Okuda is a girl living in the Taisho Era. She definitely needs all her strength since her life keeps being brutal to her. The only man she ever loved is married, her mother is on the brink of death, and her father has disappeared.
However, one day the man returns with a mysterious notebook. Takiko gets so upset with him that she decides to steal it and tear it apart, but little does she know that this is how her adventure will begin.
- Arisa
Tsubasa and Arisa are identical twin sisters separated by their parents’ divorce.
They decide to meet in secret in a park, where Arisa learns that Tsubasa, who’s been struggling with her social life, envies her sister tremendously. Arisa decides to fight the envy in the best way she can think of: let her sister become her for a day.
