5 Popular Anime Sequels Fans Desperately Want to See

Baseless speculations or actual predictions? Only time will tell.

If there’s one thing otaku love doing the most, it’s speculating about potential sequels. However, due to some series’ popularity, it can be assumed that they’ll get more content one day.

Here are some series that fans believe will get sequel announcements. Will that be true? Only time will tell.

Vinland Saga

Vinland Saga is an epic story. However, if you watched the two seasons, you probably realized that the characters aren’t even close to the Vinland mentioned in the title. In fact, they only got there much further in the manga.

For the anime to actually get to the “Vinland” part of it, it would need a few more seasons — and that’s why fans are confident it’ll get sequels at some point.

Black Clover

When Black Clover anime ended, fans were wondering “and that’s it?” It’s not that the anime was disappointing, or its final episode was underwhelming — far from it. It has quite a lot of fans, as its later episodes improved upon its unimpressive start.

The manga, however, is still ongoing, and the anime desperately needs a sequel. With studio Pierrot not having any actual long-running projects under its belt right now (Kingdom and Bleach take breaks between seasons), a second season of Black Clover is entirely possible.

Spy x Family

Despite the fans getting somewhat tired of Spy x Family’s sitcom formula, the series is still quite popular in Japan. The movie was very successful in Japan, and the anime does many collaborations with other series — indicating that it still is very likely to get a continuation.

Fans are quite confident about this one, and the movie seems to be a filler — so you won’t actually need to watch it to watch potential further seasons.

Frieren

Yes, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Frieren) is still airing. That doesn’t stop fans from speculating about its potential sequel.

The anime is so popular, both in Japan and in the West, that they are basically convinced it will get a sequel season announced right after the first one ends. With how much of the manga there is left, it’s very possible.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Fans are convinced that David Production plans to animate the entirety of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken). While Part 6 being released on Netflix hurt the series’ popularity among anime fans, it’s still popular enough to constantly get mentioned.

There are two more parts that are finished, and the ninth one is ongoing in manga — a lot of possible content to adapt. Let’s just hope it’s not on Netflix next time.
