5 Times Opening Was Better Than the Actual Anime

That happens sometimes.

A good and catchy opening theme is always a nice touch that can keep an anime on your mind for days after watching it. But what if the opening is so good that it can even outshine the series itself?

  1. Tokyo Ghoul

Although fans don’t think that the first season of the anime was terrible, they still find a lot of faults with it, and this series will forever remain as one of the “manga was better” ones. But the opening, man!

Season 1 opening of Tokyo Ghoul has become such an iconic thing that even those who’ve never seen an episode can sing the first lines of it.

  1. The Legendary Hero Is Dead! (Yuusha ga Shinda!)

Again it’s impossible to say that the anime is a complete disaster, but the opening was just on another level.

The music, the colors, the visuals ― fans call the entire thing an absolute banger, and some even claim that this is the best opening of 2023. There are so many weird things happening in the opening that you just want to watch the anime itself to find out what the hell is going on there.

  1. Domestic Girlfriend (Domestic na Kanojo)

This opening puts you in just the right melancholic yet romantic and inspirational mood with the help of its visuals and clever play with colors. You just want to run and fight and tell everyone how much you love them at the same time, if this even makes any sense.

However, the anime makes you just want to drop it and go reread the manga instead.

  1. Guilty Crown

Another one of “the anime is not so bad, though.” And yet, it’s still not as good as the first opening of the series. If you wake some fans up in the middle of the night, there’s a high chance they will go “So everything that makes me whole Ima kimi ni sasageyou… I’m yours" and we can get that.

The song is indeed very emotional and touching and listening to it just once is just not an option.

  1. The Future Diary (Mirai Nikki)

The Future Diary fans, please don’t come for us, we do love the anime. But we can’t ignore that the series does have its issues.

But you know what doesn’t have any drawbacks? The opening of the anime. The choice of the red color was an incredible one, and the intro provides just the right combination of creepy, dynamic and absolutely beautiful. We can forget about this anime over time, but we’ll never forget the opening.
