Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen) is a fantasy light novel series written by Miya Kazuki. The first three parts of the series anime adaptation were released in 2019-2022 and animated by Ajia-do Animation Works, but the fourth part is coming this time, and the series have some production changes: WIT studio is working on it now.

What is it about?

Urano Motosu is a huge bookworm and reading is her great passion. Her dream of becoming a librarian was soon to be fulfilled but an earthquake takes this dream away from her, as she’s crushed to death beneath a pile of books in her house. As she draws her last breath, she wishes to be able to read books forever in her next life. She wakes up reincarnated in the body of a five-year-old girl, Myne, and finds herself in a world where books are extremely rare, and only available to elites. Since Urano’s memories are intact and she’s just as passionate about reading as before, she thinks that the book-lacking issue can be solved by her, and she decides to write and print her own works.

New studio is working on the series now

Season 4 of the anime was announced by the WIT Studio on December 6, 2023, and it’s going to cover Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke. Fans call the WIT Studio taking over this project a huge upgrade for the series, and are super hyped.
