Bucchigiri Fight Scenes Make Up for the Annoying Protagonist

Bucchigiri Fight Scenes Make Up for the Annoying Protagonist

We can tolerate him as long as the fights keep coming.

Summary:

  • Arajin is disliked by many in the fandom.
  • That doesn’t prevent fans from enjoying Bucchigiri.
  • Combat scenes in the anime are very well-made.

Right after the first episode of Bucchigiri?! aired, its main protagonist, Arajin, caused quite a commotion due to his rather questionable personality.

Unlikable MC

When you first meet him, he might remind you of Chainsaw Man’s Denji, since Arajin doesn’t have a typical hero goal, either. Just like Denji wanted to have a girlfriend, Arajin wishes to lose his virginity. Is this some new trend in such characters?

However, Denji is much more likable, since he does indeed have a personality and something he cares about. Denji never had good things and a good life, which made him desire small and shallow things instead of looking for something grandiose. And Arajin is just rude and annoying.

The anime is great, though

But apart from that, fans seem to be very content with the anime for now, and they see great potential in the series. It’s very eccentric and sometimes even over-the-top, but this is exactly the beauty of it. Some viewers already call it their guilty pleasure anime of the season.

The anime’s fights are mostly to thank for the good impression the series is making on its viewers. With all these fantasy battle shounens, where characters use magic, cursed energy and other supernatural abilities, the good old hand-to-hand combat feels rather refreshing.

Of course, there’s also some magic involved, since a genie is in the story, but it doesn’t turn the entire thing into the flashing light of superpowers that make it difficult to understand what is happening on the screen.

Most fights do not involve any magic whatsoever, and even the rare moments of the genie helping Arajin don’t ruin the experience. First, they are indeed rare, and second, the genie only increases the strength of Arajin’s hits.

The animation is great

And we can’t forget about the animation of the series, either. Everyone knows how good MAPPA is when the studio’s animators are given enough time and face reasonable deadlines. Bucchigiri only further proves the skills of MAPPA.

All of the fighting sequences look outstanding, having the fistfighting their focus. A number of fans compare the fighting to Tokyo Revengers, but say that Bucchigiri goes even beyond that and makes its fights look even better.

We still hope to see some development for the main protagonist, because no matter how great the action and combat in the series are, there has to be something more. But for now we’ll stay for characters throwing fists and try to ignore Arajin’s personality.
