Why is it so, though?

Chained Soldier (Mato Seihei no Slave) fans have been really enjoying the anime this season and praising it for great quality. However, if you go to MyAnimeList and look at the anime’s score, you’ll see that it’s 6.98/10, which is not that high.
It’s not a bad rating, of course, but let’s be honest, when we see something under 7, our mind starts to go “perhaps this is not really a great show.” That’s why fans are upset about it, since Chained Soldier is indeed a great show, and there’s a fear that such a score might repel new viewers.
Is it too sexual?
The main complaint seems to be connected with the ecchi aspects of Chained Soldier. Some criticize it for including femdom themes, some call it sexist due to how sexualized women in the series are, some are irritated by the amount of nudity the anime provides.
But the thing is that Chained Soldier never tried to fool people into thinking that it’s different from what it is. The ecchi and harem genres are right there in every description, they are never hidden. The sexualized girls are on all of the posters, and the female domination is right there in the synopsis.
That’s why fans don’t understand the reasons for all of these complaints. Did other people just go into Chained Soldier blind without even googling it for a second? And even if that’s really what happened, why couldn’t they just stop watching without giving the series a low score?
It’s obvious that sexual themes are not for everyone, and there are a lot of anime fans that don’t watch such series at all, preferring something more serious, and we respect that. Tastes differ, you know.
But Chained Soldier is not even that bad when it comes to this. It does include all of the aforementioned sexual aspects, yes, but it’s not even the most unhinged ecchi anime out there. And to call Chained Soldier disgusting is going a bit too far, some fans think.

On top of that, there’s also another type of criticism and it’s completely opposite to everything we’ve just mentioned. It has more merit as it comes from Chained Soldier manga readers who are unsatisfied with the way the source material is being adapted.
They say that the anime is nowhere near as explicit as the manga and that many ecchi moments are cut from the series. These people are also upset, and their disappointment results in low ratings as well.
