Chainsaw Man Slice-of-Life Spin-off Sounds Like an Incredible Idea

Chainsaw Man Slice-of-Life Spin-off Sounds Like an Incredible Idea

We just want to see the characters have some fun.

Summary:

  • Chainsaw Man provides little to no joy.
  • That’s why we’d love to see its characters just have some fun together.
  • Such a spin-off can take place in any setting.

Seeing “Chainsaw Man” and “slice-of-life” in one sentence is a bizarre thing, we know, but please hear us out.

Chainsaw Man is quite depressing

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a manga reader or an anime-only, you already have the idea of what Chainsaw Man is: a cruel and unforgiving experience. If you’ve read the manga, you know the true depth of this statement, though.

The thing is, it doesn’t get any better; sometimes it feels like Chainsaw Man is just constantly looking for more ways to hurt its characters and, of course, you.

While there’s definitely a twisted beauty to that, we also have to admit that the series lacks calm and wholesome moments. That’s why we came up with the idea of adding some slice-of-life.

It’s obvious that it wouldn’t work in the original series, since it has a different focus, and no matter how much Chainsaw Man tries to show you some hilarious moments between Power and Denji, it cannot afford featuring long slice-of-life sequences. So a spin-off sounds like the best option for that.

Any setting would work

Imagine watching or reading about Power, Denji and Aki, just going shopping together and trying to pick out the best and most outrageous clothes to wear to a party. What if they go to the movies afterwards and fight over which popcorn flavor they all want? We’d pay for a series like that, we won’t be lying.

Fans also have other ideas. We could have something like Attack on Titan: Junior High but with Chainsaw Man characters, too.

Imagine a school where Makima is a teacher or even the principal, and she’s constantly complaining about that foolish horny boy who brings his weird looking dog to class. Not only would it be hilarious, but it would also heal your soul after the actual events of Chainsaw Man a lot.

It doesn’t even matter what universe such a spin-off would take place in: let characters go to school, let them work together in an office, put them in a fantasy world and make it an isekai. Fans would genuinely enjoy anything.

It’s the only issue with series like Chainsaw Man that feature so much trauma and suffering that you just want to see its characters happy and living a good life. And since we know the original Chainsaw Man is not going to provide that, we’d at least like to see it in a small and silly spin-off.
