It's finally May, and while many people are just excited for the upcoming summer, anime fans know that this month is special for another reason: a new Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) season is on its way.
What We Know So Far
Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc is scheduled for May 12, 2024 and will be broadcast weekly on Sundays at 11:15 PM (JST). Unfortunately, the number of episodes hasn't been revealed, so we don't know how many weeks the new season will stay with us, but it can't be many.
The upcoming season is an anime adaptation of the Hashira Training Arc of the manga. It's a direct sequel to the Swordsmith Village Arc and will follow its events.
The thing is, the Hashira Training Arc is only 9 chapters long (Chapters 128-136), that's why you shouldn't expect a two-cour season, there's just not enough content for that.
It's not enough content even for a proper one-cour season, if we're being honest, but there's an idea that the new season will feature some extra content that wasn't in the manga. In other words, we should be prepared for some fillers.
There have been leaks about Hashira Training being an 8-episode season, but it hasn't been officially confirmed. However, this number of episodes feels right for such a short arc, so we expect the season to finish airing in late June ― early July.
What Is It Going to Be About?
Since Nezuko is immune to the sunlight now, demon slayers understand that Muzan will be after her. The demon attacks have halted, which can only mean one thing: they're planning something terrible, a destructive fight is unavoidable.
To get ready, the slayers have to become stronger, so the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya, enacts strict training for all the corps' members, including Tanjiro and the Hashira.
First Episode Had an Early Premiere
A number of lucky fans have already had the chance to experience the beginning of the new season. Demon Slayer: To the Hashira Training aired in Japan on February 2, 2024.
This is a sort of compilation movie that featured the last two episodes of the Swordsmith Village Arc and the first episode of the Hashira Training Arc. Those who went to see the movie prove it: the new season will have some anime-only scenes that weren't in the manga, but fear not, they won't ruin your experience.
