Demon Slayer Hashira Training Is Out: Does New Season Meet Expectations?

One of the biggest shounens is finally back.

Summary:

  • Demon Slayer: Hashira Training has started airing.
  • Episode 1 is longer than usual.
  • The number of episodes is yet to be revealed.
  • The quality of the series is as high as ever.

Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc (Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hashira Geiko-hen) has finally started airing. Episode 1 came out on May, 12, 2024, and fans are ecstatic. One of the most popular modern anime is back in action, and the hype is uncontainable.

Episode 1 Did Really Great

Even though it’s barely been 24 hours since the episode’s release, it’s already managed to receive all sorts of praises, and MyAnimeList score got to 8.14, which is impressive for the first episode, but let’s be honest, unsurprising for a series like Demon Slayer.

The Swordsmith Village Arc ended with Nezuko becoming immune to sun, and demon slayers are confident: Muzan is after her now. To protect her, slayers have to become stronger, that’s why a new training, involving Hashira, has to start. An epic battle is on its way, and everyone has to prepare for it.

Episode 1 is longer than a usual anime episode, it’s over 40 minutes long. But it goes so smoothly that you don’t even notice how you get to the ending theme.

There are no surprises in the episode for those who know what Demon Slayer is. The animation and visuals are as stunning as ever, the humor is as hilarious as we remember it, and Zenitsu and Inosuke are as loud as before.

Basically, it’s just another exciting Demon Slayer episode that reminds you why you love this anime so much.

There Are Still Questions

Unfortunately, the premiere doesn’t answer one of the hottest questions about the season: the episode count. We’ve still got the upsetting “unknown” on major websites, and fans are confused. Why is it such a major secret?

Episode 1 teases the Infinity Castle. It starts with Sanemi and Obanai chasing a demon, who leads them to the castle. But don’t expect a heated battle just now. Right when it looks like the Hashira are about to enter it, it disappears.

This is an anime-only scene that wasn’t in the manga, and fans think it was added to give viewers a hint: demon slayers will enter it in the future, and the final battle is just around the corner.

Since the Hashira Training Arc is pretty short and rather chill, there’s a lot of room for extra scenes that will provide more depth and explore the series’ characters better. We can’t wait to see how the adaptation will go, but we expect something truly exciting.

Needless to say, fans are over the moon. Having the anime back feels like a dream come true, and everyone is excited for their weekly Demon Slayer discussions. There are still a lot of mysteries that the new season has to unveil, but we’re nothing if not patient.
