They didn’t know there wouldn’t be much new content.
Demon Slayer: To the Hashira Training (Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hashira Geiko-hen) had its international premiere last week, and fans can’t stop talking about the movie. And, unfortunately, the conversation is not always positive.
Is the movie good?
Let’s start with something nice, though. To the Hashira Training movie has the same outstanding quality as all the other Demon Slayer projects. Ufotable has built quite a reputation among the fans, and they keep praising the studio for the work they’ve done on the series.
Fans also loved how the beginning of the Hashira Training Arc was adapted in the movie, and there’s hope that Season 4 will follow suit and excite us the same way.
Fans didn’t know what to expect
The thing that causes confusion is the content of the movie. It includes the last two episodes of the Swordsmith Village Arc and only one episode of the Hashira Training Arc, which means there isn’t much new content.
Although ufotable has been pretty clear about what the new Demon Slayer movie would be like, there seem to be a lot of fans who missed this part entirely. They heard “Demon Slayer movie,” got super excited and purchased their tickets.
However, when they actually went to a theater and watched the movie, they were extremely disappointed because they were forced to watch almost an hour of familiar footage.
They went in blind
Spoilers and leaks have become a major issue in the anime community, that’s why there are so many fans that don’t like reading much about upcoming projects and try to avoid trailers and various discussions.
That’s why it was so easy for them to miss the “two old episodes” part and go into the movie with the idea that they’re going to watch something entirely new. The expectations weren’t met, and anger and disappointment ensued.
And we can’t blame them for that, not reading or watching anything before the premiere is a common practice among fans, be it about a movie or an anime, and it was obvious that some of them would get tricked into thinking that To The Hashira Training movie is something that it’s not.
But we can blame the studio for releasing such a project. Fans are upset that they’re paying money for something they’ve seen before, and just wish there was more new content. They think it would have been better to adapt the entire arc in the movie and save Season 4 for the next part of the story.
