Episode 1 of A Sign of Affection is Enough to Make You Completely Fall in Love With the Main Protagonist

A new wonderful romance to warm you up this winter.

Summary:

  • A Sign of Affection started airing on January 6.
  • It follows Yuki, who is a hearing-impaired girl.
  • The first episode is very promising.

A Sign of Affection (Yubisaki to Renren) is a fresh anime based on a manga series written and illustrated by Suu Morishita. It’s just started airing (January 6), and even though we only have one episode, there’s already plenty to talk about.

Yuki Itose is a hearing-impaired university student. But being incapable of experiencing the world of sounds doesn’t prevent her from having a good life. When a foreigner approaches her on a train, she is not sure what to do, but a handsome Prince Charming appears to save the day.

He turns out to be Itsuomi Nagi, and Yuki understands right there and then that he might be the one.

We don’t want to spoil too much because the first episode is worth experiencing by yourself but as you may understand, this is not the last time they see each other.

Yuki is incredible

Yes, we’ve only seen her for one episode, but we’re already in love, and what are you going to do about that? She’s extremely charming and cute, and don’t think we haven’t noticed how stunning she looks! Those eyes are to die for!

Fans already say that they will stand by any choice she’s going to make. “I've only known Yuki for 24 min, but if anything happened to her, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself,” a fan jokes.

The anime treats hearing impairment well

Although hearing issues are a very difficult and complicated topic, A Sign of Affection and Yuki don’t make a big deal out of it. Don’t get us wrong, it’s a very important topic that needs to be explored, but there’s something refreshing about the series’ approach to it.

It’s like the anime tells you “Yes, she can’t hear, and what?”. We don’t know if there will be any drama related to this theme in the future, but for now everything feels so warm and bright that your heart just melts.

Itsuomi also feels quite peculiar for now. He seems very straightforward and confident, so we can’t wait to see how their interactions with Yuki will turn out.

The anime portrays their chemistry exceptionally well. Although some fans call him a bit creepy because he absolutely ignores Yuki’s personal space, he didn’t come off as that problematic to us. And we can’t wait to see more of their relationship development.
