How will the final season be handled?
Summary:
- The future of the Demon Slayer anime adaptation is unclear.
- After the Hashira Training Arc is over, two more seasons are needed.
- Fans hope the Final Season of Demon Slayer won't be treated like Attack on Titan.
Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc (Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hashira Geiko-hen) is getting closer with each week. The new season is scheduled for May 12, 2024, but there are still so many things we don't know.
The Hashira Training is the last but one Demon Slayer manga arc, that's why fans are already talking about the final season of the anime. It might be too early to discuss such things now, but it's always better to be heard before it's too late.
How Will the Arcs Be Divided Into Seasons?
Fans are very worried about the future of the anime, and the lack of details about the Hashira Training adaptation doesn't make it any better. This manga arc is only 9 chapters long, so it's obvious that there isn't enough content for an entire season.
That's why fans had the idea that the upcoming season might go beyond the Hashira Training Arc and feature at least part of the Final Battle one. Which brings us to the finale of the series and the way it'll be handled.
The Final Battle Arc is divided into two sub-arcs, Infinity Castle and Sunrise Countdown, with the former being 47 chapters long and the latter being 22 chapters long. This means that they will hardly be parts of the same season.
One of the ideas is that there will be two more seasons of Demon Slayer after the Hashira Training airs. One will have two cours and be about 24 episodes long (the Infinity Castle adaptation) and the other will be one-cour and have about 12 episodes (the Sunrise Countdown adaptation).
Don't Do What Attack on Titan Did
This will probably be the best possible option for the anime adaptation. However, fans are scared that Demon Slayer will follow in Attack on Titan's steps and call the entire Final Battle Arc the Final Season and annoy the hell out of them with various Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 Part 1 and so on.
We can't know the exact reason why MAPPA decided to split the final season of Attack on Titan into four parts, but fans think it had something to do with production issues and the desire to keep the hype for the series going.
Ufotable isn't as notorious for production issues as MAPPA, but there are concerns that the hype reason might apply to Demon Slayer, too. After all, this is a tremendously popular series, and we can see how the studio doesn't want to say goodbye to it.
So there's hope that Ufotable won't copy MAPPA's strategy and try to keep Demon Slayer around as long as possible, but just give fans what they want: the finale of the anime adaptation.
