Frieren Official Account Might Be Hinting at Possible Season 2

No Season 2 announcement? We’ve been played!

Summary:

  • Frieren Season 1 finished airing; Season 2 hasn’t been announced.
  • Official X Frieren account posted a mysterious message.
  • It wouldn’t be smart to stop the anime now.

The worst thing ever happened last week: Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Sousou no Frieren) Season 1 reached its end and finished airing with Episode 28 on March 22, 2024. What are we even going to do now?

Season 2 hasn’t been announced

No matter how many people were absolutely confident (yours truly included) that Season 2 would 100% come and would be announced after the Season 1 finale, it never happened. Expectations weren’t met, hopes were destroyed, hearts were broken.

But jokes aside, there really was a great part of the fandom that was waiting for a Season 2 announcement last week, and the absence of it caused quite the confusion among viewers. Isn’t Frieren’s success a good enough reason to work on a sequel?

The good news is that there’s no need to worry just now. Sequels aren’t always announced straightaway, it may take some time for the studio to release more details. The fact that Season 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet doesn’t mean that it’s never happening. We’re still sure it is.

There is a hint

On top of that, the official X (formerly Twitter) Frieren account made a mysterious post with a picture of Frieren and the words “The Journey to Ende continues.” Of course, this can’t be considered an official Season 2 announcement, but fans think it’s a major hint at a sequel. Otherwise it’s just too cruel.

Still, there’s another idea: what if this is just a way to make fans read the manga? The journey does continue there, that’s for sure, and we all know that a lot of anime adaptations are made to promote the source material.

Perhaps Frieren’s job here is done, so it’s time to say goodbye. No one wants to believe that, of course.

The series is too popular to stop

Frieren has been dominating all the anime communities and websites for two seasons. Fans are absolutely ecstatic about anything related to this anime. The scores are skyrocketing, it’s been number 1 on MyAnimeList for months, and not even the outraged Fullmetal Alchemist fans have managed to change that.

With a popularity level like that, it would feel unnatural for the anime to be done and forgotten for good. This is a project that has all the chances of bringing immense profits to its animation studio, and it just wouldn’t be smart to end it here.

Do you think there’ll ever be Season 2?
