Garouden is originally a series of martial arts novels by Baku Yumemakura, which later expanded and became a movie, a manga by Keisuke Itagaki and two video games. And now it’s time for another addition ― an anime adaptation titled Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf.
The series will focus heavily on martial arts. Due to his troubled past, Juuzou has to compete in a deadly underground fighting tournament. We’re yet to see if he’s strong enough to overcome all the challenges and defeat terrifying opponents.
The anime is scheduled for May 23, 2024 and will be released exclusively on Netflix.
New Trailer Is Out
An official trailer for Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf has been released, and the release date is not the only exciting thing about it. Combat anime fans are hyped for the upcoming premiere, as they’ve been craving a new series like that.
The trailer introduces both the main protagonist and the tournament he’s about to participate in. Kodoku is a contest to find the world’s greatest martial art. No magic, no sorcery, only the pure strength of a human body. We can definitely expect a lot of huge ripped characters in the anime.
There will definitely be a lot of exploration of Juuzou’s inner demons. The main character doesn’t want to use his strength against humans anymore, but he seems to have no other choice. Him not wanting to let the monster out feels like a great way to include engaging character development into the story.
The fights in the trailer look just like you might expect them to: brutal. And this is the reason why they’re so exciting. It’s too early to talk about the animation properly, but the trailer makes it look promising.
New Story Capable of Hyping Old Fans
Although the anime won’t be a 100% faithful adaptation of the novels, fans have noticed the original protagonist in the trailer, Tanba Bunshichi. So there will surely be some Easter Eggs or references to the source material.
It looks like the adaptation will take a lot of liberties when it comes to the original plot, but fans don’t mind. It’s not the first adaptation of the series, so they’re used to some changes. And this time they’re even craving them.
Fans are happy that Netflix is trying to bring combat anime back, and Garouden seems to be the right choice. Everyone is patiently waiting for May 23 to experience this new take on the series.
