Fans have been asking for the second season of Great Pretender for ages, and November answered their prayers with a Great Pretender Razbliuto announcement. However, recent news has revealed that it’s not the second season of the anime, but a feature-length movie.
Con artists are fun
The first season of Great Pretender follows Makoto, who is a con artist, aspiring to great things. After his failed attempt to con a seemingly clueless tourist, he discovers that this tourist is not that simple. The “victim”, Laurent Thierry, is a con artist himself, and even a more skilled one than Makoto, for that matter. And that’s how Makoto ends up becoming Laurent's partner, and they continue their criminal journey together.
Season 1 finished airing three years ago, and fans were naturally curious if this story would even get a sequel. And the Great Pretender Razbliuto movie is here to provide.
The story of the movie is still to be uncovered, but there are some things to go with. The first thing you might notice is the change of the main cast. That’s probably just her haircut, though. The trailer introduces Dorothy’s team members and they all look like… well, like how you would imagine con artists to look!
Fans are a little bit disappointed due to the lack of the original cast of Great Pretender, but they’re willing to give the movie a chance. There’s always hope for our faves’ cameos or Easter eggs, after all.
The release dates have puzzled some people, since Japan is getting the movie later than North America. Great Pretender Razbliuto airs in Japan on February 23, 2024, while North America will be able to experience the new adventure on January 9th. But it’s not such a big deal, we’re all super excited for the movie regardless!
