Haigakura Reveals a New Teaser: Something to Look Forward to?

More fantasy is coming in 2024.

Summary:

  • Haigakura is an upcoming action fantasy anime scheduled for 2024.
  • It follows Ichiyou, who is forced to take up the job of Kashikan.
  • A new teaser for the series has been released.

Haigakura is an upcoming action fantasy anime based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Shinobu Takayama. The adaptation was announced in August 2023, and is scheduled for 2023. Typhoon Graphics is working on the series, and although you’ll hardly find any widely popular anime among this studio’s work, there’s always a chance that Haigakura will become the first one.

Haigakura explores a world lying above the sky and below the ocean, where gods exist. It is supported by the four gods known as the Four Evil, but everything changed when two of them escaped. Kashikan are officers that use songs and dances to confine foreign gods and carry them back to restore stability to the world.

The main character, Ichiyou, is a Kashikan who unwillingly took up the job, and now he’s trying to find out whether there are gods in Japan and face various adventures along his way.

The teaser doesn’t give us much to go with, but it provides the first glimpse at the character design on Haigakura and its animation. Characters look absolutely beautiful, the weird tiger man (who’s the foster father of the main protagonist) deserves most of the attention, though.

The teaser starts rather calmly with a relaxing Asian vibe and soothing music, but it turns out to be a clever ruse: the soundtrack changes to hard rock seconds later to accompany epic (and hilarious) scenes. The teaser promises a lot of fantasy elements and great action. It doesn't reveal any story details or introduce voice actors, since no one is speaking in the video, but we’re nothing if not patient, we’ll wait for more releases.

Fans don’t really know what to expect from the anime for now. Back when it was first announced, they thought the premise sounded intriguing, and the poster portraying the main characters looked absolutely beautiful.

Most fans admit that they’ve never even heard of Haigakura but are willing to give it a try. The character design alone seems quite peculiar, and we just love some handsome protagonists — we can’t help it.

There are still those who have read the manga, of course, and they were pleasantly surprised by the news of Haigakura being adapted into an anime. The manga started back in 2008, so they didn’t even expect to ever see it animated after all this time, but they are hyped by the news.
