Summary:

  • Hell’s Paradise Season 2 is in the works.
  • A key visual has been revealed.
  • Fans hope Season 2 will be an improvement over Season 1.

MAPPA has been feeding us well the past weekend with the Chainsaw Man movie announcement, and now the Hell’s Paradise (Jigokuraku) key visual. The second season of the anime was first announced back when the first one had been finished in summer 2023, and MAPPA has been silent about the series ever since. Too busy with Jujutsu Kaisen, probably? But the time has come, and we’re finally getting something.

The first season followed Gabimaru, a ninja who was sentenced to death and promised a full pardon if he was crazy enough to travel to a mysterious island in order to acquire the Elixir of Life. Although life wasn’t his priority, he couldn’t die because he wanted to see his wife again. That’s why he took the job, and traveled to the island along with a dozen other death row convicts..

New key visual is out

The lack of updates and the controversy surrounding MAPPA for the past few months had fans pretty concerned about the future of Hell’s Paradise. That’s why even such a tiny thing as a key visual gives the fandom a lot of hope: the series is not forgotten and is being worked on.

The new visual doesn’t portray anything worth an hour-length discussion, but it does look great. Gabimaru, looking even more dead-inside and emotionless than ever, is surrounded by flames, but doesn’t seem to care about it much. Beautiful and distressing — everything we could have expected from a Hell’s Paradise visual.

Fans’ expectation

Although the first season of the anime was rather good, fans can’t help but feel that it didn’t do the manga justice. It had great potential and was overall enjoyable, but something was missing. And fans hope that Season 2 will fix that issue. Even though the absence of a release date is a bit upsetting, it gives fans hope that MAPPA won’t be rushing this project and will take their time to provide the best possible product. Expectations are high, to cut it short.

There’s also hope for more hype for Hell’s Paradise in the future. While the anime was pretty successful, fans feel like it can be bigger and better. And Season 2 seems like a great opportunity to finally achieve that.
