Kazuma and his useless goddess are officially coming back. At Colorful — the franchise's 10th-anniversary event at Pacifico Yokohama on 26 July 2026 — KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! confirmed its fourth season will air in 2027, and revealed a production shake-up in the process.
A fourth studio takes over
ENGI is now handling the animation — the fourth studio in the franchise's history:
- Seasons 1 and 2 — Studio Deen (2016 and 2017).
- The Legend of Crimson film — J.C. Staff (2019).
- Season 3 and the Explosion spin-off — Drive (2024 and 2023).
- Season 4 — ENGI, from 2027.
The continuity comes from the people rather than the building. Chief director Takaomi Kanasaki — who directed the first two seasons and the film — returns, alongside series writer Makoto Uezu and character designer Koichi Kikuta, both on board since season 1. The new director is Manabu Kurihara (The Detective Is Already Dead), with Yoshikazu Iwanami on sound and Masato Kōda on music.
The cast and the visual
All four leads reprise their roles: Jun Fukushima as Kazuma, Sora Amamiya as Aqua, Rie Takahashi as Megumin, and Ai Kayano as Darkness. The event also unveiled an "ultra teaser" visual, whose catchphrase sets the tone:
"Let's embark on a new adventure!" — the season 4 teaser visual, as translated by Otaku Mantra, July 2026.
A long time coming
Season 4 was first announced on 14 March 2025, straight after the Bonus Stage OVA episodes — so fans have waited well over a year for anything concrete. The isekai comedy, adapted from Natsume Akatsuki's light novels with illustrations by Kurone Mishima, debuted in January 2016 and last had a full season in spring 2024. No month, no episode count. But 2027 is locked in.
For the record: the anniversary slate also includes a new mobile and PC game, KonoSuba: Kono Ai Subeki Machi ni Hanei o, supervised by Akatsuki himself and due in 2026. The party stays busy.
