Jujutsu Kaisen has a great variety of characters, each of them possessing different levels of powers and strategic skills. But there seems to be no doubt that Gojo and Sukuna are the strongest among of them. A special grade jujutsu sorcerer and the King of Curses are so much above the rest of the characters, that every fight feels unfair when these two are on the battlefield. But which one of them possesses the highest battle IQ?
What is the battle IQ?
The term “battle IQ” is used to talk about strategic and tactical abilities during a fight. It’s not about the level of general intelligence, but rather gaining an advantage over their opponents. A character might not be the most powerful one, but if they have a high battle IQ, they could outplay even a stronger opponent.
The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom thinks that Gojo might be the one with the highest battle IQ. Despite the fact that Sukuna possesses wider and deeper knowledge about the world and its powers, and he has lived much longer than Gojo, the sorcerer is fairly capable of putting up a good fight against the King of Curses. Moreover, Gojo toys with Sukuna masterfully and manages to outmaneuver him a few times.
There are a lot of mysteries about Sukuna, and even though Gojo knew some stuff about him, he had never fought anything like that before. But he wasn’t scared or hesitating, he challenged him and almost won.

On top of that, the Shibuya Incident Arc alone portrayed Gojo as an outstanding fighter. All the powerful curses focused on trying to seal Gojo, and he managed to fight back and openly welcomed the challenge. He released a Domain Expansion of just 0.2 seconds, guessing that it’s the amount of time a normal human could take inside it without suffering lasting after-effects. That wasn’t calculated, so it once again showed how experienced and intuitive Gojo really is.
Moreover, it was stated in the series that Gojo works best when he’s alone. Even the strongest allies can slow him down and get in his way, so when it’s just him on the battlefield, he’s capable of showing his true greatness by entirely concentrating on the fight.
On top of that, Gojo’s battle IQ is combined with his creativity and craftiness, which makes him an even more dangerous opponent. It’s not always about power, but about the ability to think fast and make crucial decisions in a short period of time. And Gojo is perfect at that.
